We recently connected with Andre Martineau and have shared our conversation below.
Andre, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
Some months are better then others but yes were working on growing. Its really all about learning, practice, and networking, I know i know its all “Cliche”, but it works. I really got my foot in the door by reaching out to people who connected me to people who need my services. I think a major milestone is just completing your first couple of jobs, and getting a feel for the process and customer behavior. I think there is some amazing to be said about customers buying something you create and develop, to represent them or use it in a bigger project. I think outside of that was hearing my voice on a televised commercial was incredible …lol probably the closest i’ll get to actual on screen acting but still cool.

Andre, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I think that last I was interview, my main industry was as a Dj, since then I have transition out of that into Voice Over/Acting as well as an Audio Producer. So in short I voice tv ads, youtube videos, and most recently lots of podcast intros and outros as well. Also I produce audio productions for different creative needs like promos and again podcasts as well. I think what sets me apart is my creative ear and my own instinctual twists to projects to capture the desires of my clients. I think the thing i’m most proud of in my work by the results, clients who have reviewed my work and first reactions have meant the most. I want future and prospective clients to know that I value their needs and its not just about the money and the hustle but truly giving them the best creative work.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Mentioned this some in the last question but the results and the reactions to my work are great, in the sense that whether some the sometimes expectations are low blowing customers away getting more then what they thought, is really a great feeling. Have made some really great connections with clients and getting to see what I put together for them put into effect has been amazing as well.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
This in all honesty, has been an aspect of my business that i’m working on. Due to the nature of my work repeat business is a little hit or miss at times. So broadening my offerings has allowed me to continue working with clients and finding smaller sub categories with my larger works that can be valuable to them. Along with that I have always sucked at marketing but i’m finding new ways to get in front of clients. Thankfully marketing these skill sets aren’t much different from DJ-ing so thats been help in a lot of different ways, so still growing and learning.
