Alright, Ana thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
It all goes back to the beginning.
The reason why we started looking for a grooming salon for sale. We want to give the parents peace of mind when they leave their pets under our care. We make each pooch feel special and loved by the person behind the shears and water hose. Our mission is very simple, provide a loving and caring one on one grooming experience for each pooch who visits our salon.

Hello there! My name is Ana Marin. I am the proud pet stylist behind Pooch “n” Pups Grooming in Katy, TX. I started grooming after we bought the grooming salon. I got to learn and apply my new skills with our clients. I saw the parents’ happy faces when they picked up their pups and I knew I was doing something right. We provide a wide array of grooming services for the modern pooch. From nail trims, ear cleaning and paw trims to a full body haircut, beautiful toys and dog couture.
I am able to create a beautiful groom for your dog from start to finish on a stress-free environment with the help of my assistants. We give each pooch a one-on-one grooming experience, where they are spoiled and relaxed while taking a bubble bath.
I’m very proud of my accomplishments in the grooming world and dog shows. I go to conformation shows with my Bichons. Wendy; one of my girls, is my first AKC Champion and together we’ve taken a couple Best of Breeds along with multiple group placements. I have attended multiple seminars and webinars with world class groomers and industry leaders to be able to provide a balanced and well executed groom. Most of my clients are on a recurring schedule, meaning we stay booked about 3-5 weeks in advance.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
We all strive to do a great job within our field. Preparation, education and practice have helped me achieve good looking grooms. My clients are my walking advertisement. The parents appreciate the service we provide to their furry ones and the time we spend with each pet is a special and bonding experience for all. We take our time and pups love to come to our salon. Their pups leave happy and that is what truly matters. Our reputation has been built with mutual trust and word of mouth.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
This is a great question. My family has always wanted to be business owners. One day, we found the opportunity to purchase a dog grooming salon. My mom and I came to check it out. We were excited, got home and had a family meeting. We all put together our savings and bought Pooch “n” Pups within a week back in 2017. We knew it was a dream come true, and we all needed to strive to make it a running and successful acquisition.
