We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amy Lynn Stevenson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Amy Lynn, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
This summer I had a very special commission by the Fraternal Order of the Eagles to create a massive 20’ X 99’ outdoor mural, my largest work of art to date, which was completed this summer in her hometown, Downtown Holdrege, Nebraska. My parents have both passed away and they were very beloved. The time I spent there reconnected with friends and family plus the outpouring of love from the community was absolutely amazing.

Amy Lynn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I always knew I had to figure out how to make money in order to be an Artist. So I have always been very driven to succeed in selling my work. So I am proud of how fast and prolific I am. Also I have a whimsical style that is unmistakably and uniquely mine.
Besides the originals and commissions – I created my own signature style of Puzzles for Adults and Children, plus her 2nd volume of Coloring Books for All Ages, her art products of limited edition prints, notebooks, playing cards and greeting cards.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me it’s the personal freedom over my time. And the ability to do what I truly love, self expression and stress relief. And it’s incredibly satisfying to earn a living giving people Art they truly love. I love making people happy at the end of the day.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
They can directly purchase our work, attend our events and promote us on social media.. They can also reinstate creative subjects in school. Not having these is so detrimental to our society. Being able to think abstractly is an important skill for everyone.
