Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amy Gould. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Amy, appreciate you joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
I caught the rock band bug as a teenager. I was 16 when I joined my first cover band, and from there I found myself fronting more cover projects and eventually original metal acts. Back then, I was still very green and deeply insecure about my writing. Lyrics and vocal lines always came naturally, but even though I was writing at home on piano, I never felt confident that my songs were “band-worthy.” So I stayed in my lane and focused on vocals.
Then life happened. I found myself in a long, unhealthy marriage and stepped away from the music scene entirely.
Years later, after leaving that relationship, I returned to the piano — and this time something shifted. I began writing full songs. With the help of MIDI, I realized I could actually orchestrate metal arrangements. During the 2020 pandemic, I wrote a significant amount of material. When the world opened back up, I decided to take a leap and look for band members.
It was a huge ego risk. Would anyone want to work with my songs? For the first time, my music felt completely authentic and vulnerable. I remember walking into that first rehearsal wondering if the others would tear my ideas apart — or run with them.
Thankfully, they ran with them.
That risk became the foundation of Eden On Fire. In fact, much of our debut album was born from the songs I wrote at my piano in 2020.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve wanted to be a performer for as long as I can remember. Even as a little girl, I was drawn to the stage — not just the spotlight, but the energy exchange between artist and audience. That instinct never left me.
My path into metal was a natural progression. I started in cover bands as a teenager, which gave me the foundation of live performance and stage presence. But metal was where I felt the most freedom — emotionally and vocally. It allowed me to bring intensity, vulnerability, and power together in a way no other genre did.
Today, as the vocalist and primary songwriter for Eden On Fire, I create melodic metal that blends strong hooks with raw emotional weight. Our music is heavy, but it’s also intentional. I write songs about reclaiming identity, confronting inner battles, and refusing to shrink. If someone listens closely, they’ll hear growth and evolution in every release.
What sets me apart is that I don’t separate performance from authenticity. The energy on stage comes directly from lived experience. I’m not playing a character — I’m channeling real emotion into something powerful.
What I’m most proud of is stepping fully into my role not just as a frontwoman, but as a songwriter and creative driver. For a long time, I doubted that side of myself. Now it’s the backbone of the band.
For anyone discovering Eden On Fire, what I want them to know is this: we’re here to create music that makes people feel strong in their own story. Heavy music can be cathartic. It can be empowering. And it can remind you that you’re not alone.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Metal has historically been a male-dominated space, and when I was younger, I felt that deeply. I was often the only woman in the room — on stage, in rehearsals, in conversations about direction and songwriting. When you’re still finding your confidence, it’s easy to shrink in those environments. I did. I focused on what I knew I could do well and questioned the rest.
Then life added another layer. I stepped away from music entirely during a long, unhealthy marriage. For years, I disappeared from the scene. That was one of the hardest parts — not just leaving the relationship, but realizing I had also stepped away from something that had always been part of who I am.
Starting again later in life was humbling. There’s an unspoken narrative in this industry that you have to “make it” young. I was rebuilding — writing, forming a band, putting myself back out there in a genre that doesn’t always make space easily.
But that’s where resilience took shape.
I came back not chasing validation, but building something authentic. I wrote songs that reflected growth, pain, strength, and ownership. When Eden On Fire began gaining traction — releasing music, building a following, competing at high levels — it wasn’t just professional momentum. It was proof that your timeline doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s.
If my journey illustrates anything, it’s this: disappearing doesn’t mean you’re done. Stepping away doesn’t erase your calling. And sometimes the comeback is stronger because it’s built on experience instead of insecurity.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
Scott Hagerty, our bassist, is also my cofounder — and my partner. We met online during that period when I was rebuilding both personally and creatively. What connected us early on was a shared intensity around music. We didn’t just want to play — we wanted to build something strong and intentional.
Scott brings a very technical, metal-driven approach to the band. His playing is precise, powerful, and rooted in the heavier side of the genre. That complements my more melody-focused, piano-based songwriting in a way that gives Eden On Fire its edge. Where I might start with structure and emotion, he helps sharpen it into something tighter and heavier.
Forming the band together wasn’t just about starting a project — it was about creating a foundation. We both take the work seriously, from songwriting to performance to long-term vision. Having that level of alignment makes a difference.
At its core, our partnership works because of trust and shared standards. We challenge each other creatively, and we hold the bar high. That dynamic has been a big part of how Eden On Fire has grown as quickly as it has.
