We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amber Lynn. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amber below.
Amber, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
It all started a couple years ago when I was at my wits end and very frustrated with my job at the time as a veterinary technician. I sat on the porch with my husband and explained that I really wanted to use this passion and experience I have with dogs and figure out how I can start making a living on my own, being my own boss, and be able to work my passion every day!
My husband then said “like a doggy daycare”? To which I replied no, I don’t know, I’m not sure. Lol. My husband assured me that he would support both of us and keep us afloat so I put my two weeks in to my manager at my job at the time as a vet tech. I knew I wanted to spend time with dogs in a way that was meaningful by training them, and working with them. I started to think about all the benefits of opening a dog boarding and dog daycare and dog boarding business from our home. As you can, imagine, there are a ton of benefits, including being your own boss. So I spent about $2000 in getting agility equipment for the doggy daycare outside, turf, and just rearranging my home into a comfort zone for dogs. We worked on a website and our Google profile and basically waited. It took two months before we got a client and when I did, I was so excited. The business boomed and grew monthly ever since! My husband made my idea into reality by taking care of all the paperwork and finances because I had no idea about the business part. I just knew that I was good at my passion. I complete another year of school and became a certified Canine trainer. The doggy daycare evolved into training, service dogs for disabled veterans, volunteering free packages to train dogs that are on the euthanasia list at the shelters to people who will adopt them. This business has become a life-changing experience by helping all these people live happier and calm lives with their dogs. We really focus on the bond between owner and dog.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For the folks who didn’t read about me before, I feel the need to point out that life hasn’t been easy for me, many tribulations and traumas occurred along my path, and I worked very hard to get to where I am today. I know for a fact that if I can do it, anybody can! You simply need to just believe in yourself and you can do anything!
The type of services that we provide is dog training through obedience and behavioral modification therapy to dogs in need and help mend families and build stronger bonds with their furry family members. We offer different training packages often customized to each client. We also do private lessons in peoples homes. Our pricing is very reasonable and one thing that separates us from others is our strong relationships that we build with each and every client we have. We have 90% repeat clients and we’re very proud of that.
Another thing that separates us is we provide in-home training which means your dog comes to stay at our home and trains in a home setting because they live in a home and it only makes sense.
The first thing we always do after a client calls and tells us their story is we set up a meet and greet where the family and dog come to our retreat to meet and we provide a free assessment. Another thing that also separates us apart from other dog trainers is that we provide full spa packages! We provide baths, pedicures, deep ear cleanings, all in a stress-free environment.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
A story that I can share about my journey is that I was told “no” by people many times and doubted by others. Most people in society would think that this was easy, but I fought a long time to change my ways, make better decisions, believe in myself, and never give up. My passion drove my ambition. I knew I could do it and I did!
How’d you meet your business partner?
My cofounder and business partner is my best friend and husband who helps make my dreams come true and believes in me. I am so fortunate to be able to work with him and see how his dreams have also shifted towards mine and the goals I wanted. I see how he shares in my passion and love for dogs and I am so grateful.
