We recently connected with Amber Hart and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Amber thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
I started doing hair when I was 12 years old. Even at a young age, I loved helping people feel confident about themselves through healthy, beautiful hair. What began as a passion quickly became a skill, and over the years I continued to learn, grow, and serve clients from all walks of life.
As I got older, I worked in the corporate world, but I knew deep down that I wanted more freedom and flexibility to be present for my children. Making the decision to leave corporate America was one of the biggest leaps of faith I ever took. It wasn’t easy, but I believed in my abilities and trusted that I could build something meaningful.
The first step was opening my own salon. I took everything I had learned over the years and poured it into creating an environment where clients felt valued and cared for. As I worked with more clients, I noticed many of them struggled with similar hair and scalp concerns. They wanted healthier hair, but many products on the market weren’t delivering the results they needed.
That observation sparked a new idea. Instead of simply treating the symptoms, I wanted to create solutions. I began researching ingredients, studying natural and organic hair care, and learning how different formulations impacted hair and scalp health. What started as research turned into product development, and eventually I launched my own line of organic hair care products.
The more I learned, the more I realized I wanted a deeper understanding of hair and scalp disorders. That led me to further my education and become a Trichologist. This allowed me to combine practical salon experience with scientific knowledge to better serve my clients. I wasn’t just styling hair anymore—I was helping people solve hair challenges, restore confidence, and maintain healthy hair growth.
Years later, after relocating to a new state, I found myself reflecting on my journey. I realized that one of my lifelong dreams had always been to teach others what I had learned. I saw a need for quality natural hair education and decided it was time to turn that vision into reality.
That is how GBW Natural Hair Academy was born. I developed curriculum, created training programs, organized certifications, and built a platform where aspiring professionals could learn natural hair care, business development, and healthy hair practices. What started as a childhood passion evolved into a salon, a product line, a trichology career, and ultimately an educational academy.
Looking back, the process was never one giant leap—it was a series of steps. First came the passion, then the courage to leave corporate America, followed by opening a salon, creating products, advancing my education, and finally building an academy. Each stage revealed the next opportunity. Every challenge taught me something valuable, and every client helped shape the vision.
Today, I am grateful that what began at 12 years old has grown into a business dedicated to helping people not only look their best, but also learn, grow, and build successful futures of their own.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Dr. Amber M. Hart, and I am the founder and CEO of Great Beauty World (GBW), a natural beauty and wellness company dedicated to healthy hair, scalp care, education, and empowerment. I am also a certified Trichologist, educator, mentor, and entrepreneur with a passion for helping people look and feel their best from the inside out.
My journey in the beauty industry began when I was just 12 years old. What started as a childhood passion quickly became a lifelong calling. I loved doing hair and helping people feel more confident. Over the years, I worked with countless clients, learning not only about hair but also about the emotional connection people have with it. Hair is often tied to confidence, identity, and self-esteem, and I saw firsthand how much of an impact healthy hair could have on someone’s life.
After spending time in the corporate world, I made the decision to step away in order to have more freedom and flexibility to raise my children while pursuing my passion full-time. I opened my first salon and dedicated myself to serving clients and continuously improving my craft. As my client base grew, I began noticing recurring hair and scalp concerns that many people were experiencing. I realized there was a need for products that focused on healthy ingredients and real results.
That realization led me to develop my own line of organic hair care products. Through extensive research, education, and product development, I created solutions designed to support healthy hair growth, scalp wellness, moisture retention, and overall hair maintenance. Today, Great Beauty World offers products that are formulated with natural ingredients and created with the needs of diverse hair textures and lifestyles in mind.
Wanting to deepen my knowledge even further, I pursued advanced education and became a Trichologist. This allowed me to combine years of practical salon experience with scientific understanding of hair and scalp health. My goal has always been to help people identify the root causes of their hair concerns and provide effective solutions that promote long-term results rather than temporary fixes.
In addition to product development and client care, one of my greatest passions is education. After relocating to a new state, I decided to pursue another lifelong dream by launching GBW Natural Hair Academy. The academy was created to educate aspiring beauty professionals, salon owners, foster and adoptive parents, and anyone interested in learning proper natural hair care techniques. Through hands-on training, certifications, mentorship, and business education, we help students build confidence, skills, and opportunities for success.
What sets me apart is that I have lived every stage of the journey. I started as a young girl with a passion for hair, became a salon owner, developed my own product line, earned professional credentials, and built an educational platform to teach others. I understand the challenges that both clients and beauty professionals face because I have experienced them myself.
I am most proud of the lives I have been able to impact along the way. Whether it is helping a client restore their confidence through healthier hair, mentoring an aspiring entrepreneur, educating students through GBW Natural Hair Academy, or creating products that support healthy hair journeys, my mission has always been centered around service.
I want people to know that Great Beauty World is more than a beauty brand. It is a movement focused on education, empowerment, wellness, and community. We believe healthy hair starts with knowledge, consistency, and the right products. Our goal is to provide solutions, create opportunities, and inspire others to believe that with faith, determination, and education, they can achieve their goals and build a successful future.
At the heart of everything I do is a simple mission: to help people grow not just their hair, but their confidence, their knowledge, their businesses, and their purpose.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe my reputation was built through consistency, authenticity, and a genuine commitment to serving others. Over the years, I have focused on providing value before expecting anything in return. Whether I was working with clients in the salon, developing products, mentoring students, or educating the community, my goal has always been to help people achieve healthy hair and greater confidence.
One of the biggest factors in building my reputation has been my willingness to continuously learn and grow. I started doing hair at 12 years old, but I never stopped educating myself. Becoming a certified Trichologist allowed me to combine hands-on experience with scientific knowledge, which helped me better understand the root causes of many hair and scalp concerns. Clients appreciated that I was not simply providing a service—I was providing education, solutions, and long-term support.
I also believe that results speak louder than words. Over the years, many of my clients became loyal supporters because they saw positive changes in their hair health and trusted my recommendations. Word-of-mouth referrals played a significant role in the growth of my business because people shared their experiences with family, friends, and others in their communities.
Another important factor has been transparency and integrity. I have always been honest about what is possible, what requires time and consistency, and what clients can realistically expect. Trust is earned, and I have worked hard to build relationships based on honesty, professionalism, and care.
Creating GBW Natural Hair Academy further strengthened my reputation because it allowed me to share my knowledge with others. I believe education is one of the greatest ways to create lasting impact. By teaching aspiring beauty professionals, entrepreneurs, and individuals how to properly care for natural hair, I am helping others succeed while contributing to the growth of the industry.
Most importantly, I have remained true to my purpose. I am passionate about helping people, and I believe that passion is reflected in everything I do. My reputation was not built overnight. It was built one client, one student, one product, and one relationship at a time. Through consistency, service, education, and faith, I have been able to establish a trusted name within the natural hair and beauty community.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One story that best illustrates my resilience is the decision to leave corporate America and start over by building a business based on my passion for hair and education.
At the time, leaving a stable career was a major risk. I was a mother who wanted more flexibility to be present for my children, but I also knew I was walking away from financial security and stepping into the unknown. There were many moments when the easier choice would have been to stay where I was comfortable, but I felt called to pursue something greater.
After opening my salon, I quickly realized that success would require more than talent. I had to learn how to run a business, market my services, manage finances, attract clients, and overcome obstacles that many people never see behind the scenes. There were days when business was slow, resources were limited, and challenges seemed overwhelming. However, I refused to give up.
As I worked with clients, I recognized a growing need for healthier hair solutions. Rather than accepting what already existed in the marketplace, I began researching and developing my own natural hair care products. I spent countless hours studying ingredients, testing formulations, learning manufacturing processes, and educating myself about hair and scalp health. Many of those lessons came through trial and error, but every setback became an opportunity to learn and improve.
Perhaps one of the biggest tests of resilience came when I relocated to a new state. Moving meant leaving behind established relationships, clientele, and familiarity. In many ways, I had to start over. Instead of viewing that transition as a setback, I viewed it as an opportunity to reinvent myself and pursue a dream I had carried for years creating GBW Natural Hair Academy.
Building the academy required faith, patience, and persistence. I had to develop curriculum, create training programs, establish credibility in a new environment, and continue growing both personally and professionally. There were challenges, but I remained focused on the mission of helping others learn, grow, and succeed.
What I learned through that journey is that resilience is not about avoiding difficulties. It is about continuing to move forward despite them. Every challenge strengthened my faith, expanded my knowledge, and prepared me for the next level of growth.
Today, when I see students gaining confidence, entrepreneurs launching businesses, and clients experiencing healthier hair, I am reminded that every obstacle was worth it. My journey has taught me that success is not determined by how many times you fall it is determined by your willingness to get back up, keep learning, and continue pursuing your purpose.
