Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amber Dawn Fox. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Amber Dawn, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
From an early age, my parents always taught me to do what makes me happy – in life and in business. They encouraged me to follow my heart and not worry about what others may think about it. So, when in my late 20s with 3 children, I felt unhappy in my well paid Accounting job and longed to pursue acting – I went for it! If it wasn’t for the support of my parents, I would never have made it as far as I have.
I remember early in my career, feeling defeated and guilty, my Mom telling me I was not being selfish. I was not only teaching my own kids to pursue their dreams, but by making myself happy I was a better parent to them.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Amber Dawn Fox and I am a working actress. I discovered the industry in 2009, and began working as an extra for TV shows and movies filming in the Southeast. It started off as something fun to do in my downtime, by I soon realized I couldn’t see myself doing anything else and fell in love with it. When the opportunity presented itself in 2014, I started pursing acting full time and enrolled in classes and started auditioning. Around that time, I landed a featured role in season 5 of The Walking Dead as Officer Bello and haven’t looked back since. I have had roles in films and shows on Peacock TV, AMC, Investigation Discovery, Amazon Prime and more. Most recently, I had a lead role in a horror feature film called “Locked In” that is hitting film festivals soon and a comedy feature film “Boo Boo the Fool” premiering next year.
Something that sets me apart is that I don’t live in New York, LA, or even Atlanta. I am a mom of 3 living in a small town in North Carolina and have made it work regardless!
How did you build your audience on social media?
My social media audience started to grow organically after my appearance on The Walking Dead. However, I have learned to keep my audience engaged and continue to grow it long after that by being accessible. I spend time a few times a week interacting with other’s posts and replying to comments on my own posts. It really makes a difference!

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
Many people think it is a straight line to success or just an uphill battle, but neither is true. As a creative, there are so many ups and downs all the time. It can get discouraging, but persistence is key. Some of my biggest wins have come right behind my biggest losses. I had to learn to be happy with where I am at, be proud of how far I have come, and not focus on what I have not achieved yet. Enjoy the journey!
