We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amanda Welch. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amanda below.
Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
I got my first clients from social media. Posting every day and constantly putting out new content. I received my first order from Facebook, who was not a friend or family member. I was so excited to sell my products and I can never get over that feeling. The feeling that someone would choose your products when it’s other options out there.
Amanda, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am currently in the sunglasses and eyelashes business. I have been doing this for over 2 years now. I started locally doing events and selling to friends on Facebook. Then I moved on to having a website and Instagram shopping. Now I have booths set up in beauty bars. Trends change, so try to change with them. I truly appreciate everyone who started and supported my journey.
If you have multiple revenue streams in your business, would you mind opening up about what those streams are and how they fit together?
Yes. I have a website, Instagram shopping, and a physical table set up at a Friends hair shop.
Networking is so important because I am truly blessed to have my booth set up at my friends shop to make passive income.
The trust is there and I make sure I remind her I appreciate it.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Moving from one state to another changed the way I had to sell to customers. I lost a lot of “in person” clientele. I think it is important to take that in consideration if you have more in person clientele versus online. Thankfully, some customers enjoyed shopping online even though the price was a little higher due to shipping. This was a major pivot because you have to keep the momentum going for your business even though you’re in the midst of moving your personal life. This was a big change for me but I was still able to do well
