We were lucky to catch up with Allison Agresta recently and have shared our conversation below.
Allison, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
Education is one of my true passions. Prior to owning a salon, I was a Cosmetology educator. Educating students, and employees is one of the most rewarding parts of my career. To be a part of someone’s growth and success is the reason I do what I do. I would hope my legacy is mentoring new talent, and providing stylists with the confidence and skills to be successful throughout their career.
Allison, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
When I was 16 years old, I began beauty school. The same month I graduated high school I became a licensed Cosmetologist. I quickly began my career as an Apprentice at a high end (Aveda) salon in my hometown. There I learned how to refine the service I was providing to a full experience. Throughout my career in the beauty industry, I have been an Apprentice, Stylist, Manager, and Educator. Understanding each part of the business has made me more compassionate as a Business Owner. I am most proud of my team, their passion and dedication to their craft is admirable.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Brand recognition, (Aveda) has helped us to build a reputation. One of our locations is in a tourist market. Being affiliated with Aveda the consumer recognizes and appreciates the experience they will receive when going to an Aveda salon. In addition, my team at both locations provides amazing customer service which builds retention. Retention creates referrals for new guests.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Google, social media (Facebook and Instagram), and guest referrals.
