Alright, Alli thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
I was straight out of college with minimal experience in the PR world and I was frustrated because no one would provide me an opportunity to prove I could really excel in this industry. With having so many doors slammed in my face, I felt the best route of action would be to open my own doors. I started a website, I networked on LinkedIn, and I think a lot of it was pure luck. I had a really small retainer fee and knew that I would build that up as I grew but I just really showcased my personality, my passion, and my persistence, and love of PR and marketing to land my first client.

Alli , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Alli Rodriguez. I have a BA in Corporate Communications and a MBA with a concentration in Marketing. I first fell in love with the world of PR and Marketing when I was watching PoweRGiRls on MTV. They were hanging out with celebrities and hosting incredible events and I wanted to be a part of that world. I started researching and even was able to connect with one of the VP of Lizzie Grubman’s company at the time, Kelly Brady. We formed a friendship and I was able to intern at her company Brandsway in 2011 and then have continued to maintain a relationship with her after all these years and even assisted again with her firm over the summer of 2021.
I created my company, Alli Rodriguez PR, as a Full Service PR company. It was originally titled under my maiden name Alli Russo PR. I started it up with a very premature website and services around late 2011, early 2012. We specialize in connecting our clients to the media and have grown to offer website design, social media content & creation, media kits, press releases, and much more.
We want to share our client’s stories and have access to the most notable media outlets in the world with our clients being featured on FOX, CNN, In Style, Life & Style, & much more. We are most proud of the outlets we have been able to secure for our clients and seeing them pleased with the services we provide.
We would love our potential clients to know that we are dedicated to paving the way to your brand’s success and we keep you informed and in the know the entire process since we understand a lot of brands and individuals are not educated on PR and how it works.
How did you build your audience on social media?
We understand that social media is ever-changing and there are a ton of platforms to keep on top of. We grew slowly over time and then had a surge once the pandemic hit of attracting a ton of new following. The following we have grown to see is based on relationships we have built. We have a large presence on ClubHouse and we have encouraged our following there to follow us on Instagram. We have truly leveraged Instagram the most because we gain the most clientele there and that’s the advice I would provide anyone looking to build a social presence. Pick one and leverage the contacts there before you try to tackle all of them.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think the fact that we are honest, transparent, and keep our clients involved is why we have had such a great reputation! Also, we are able to produce great results.
