Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alicia Collazo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Alicia, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with a fun one – what’s something you believe that most people in your industry (or in general) disagree with?
there’s this idea that growth in business is like a straight shot to the top – you just follow the path and boom, you’re successful. But that’s not really how it works. The truth is, growth isn’t some linear thing that you can plot on a graph. It’s way more complicated than that. There are all sorts of things that can impact a company’s growth, like changes in the market, shifts in customer preferences, and unexpected curveballs like, I don’t know, a global pandemic, maybe? To stay on top of the game, businesses have to be quick on their feet and ready to change course when needed. Instead of thinking of growth as a fixed destination, we should see it as a wild ride full of twists and turns. It’s all about adapting to the changing landscape and being ready to tackle whatever comes our way.
When I first started my social media management company, I fell right into the constant bombardment of influencers promising big success in a short amount of time. But the problem with that is when you reach that deadline and your business is still right where you started you don’t blame the method but rather yourself.
There is a flaw in the marketing system. and it’s the way success is seen and advertised. I strive to keep it real with my audience. There’s no straight shot to success; it takes time, effort and patience. My Job is to help my clients navigate that journey.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name’s Alicia, and I’m the founder and CEO of InCrowdSurfing – a social media management company based in Houston, Texas. I live with my hubby and our little one, and when I’m not hustling at work, you can catch me homeschooling my kiddo or volunteering in my community.
I started InCrowdSurfing back in 2022 to make some extra dough, but man, I quickly fell in love with creating awesome content and whipping up social media strategies for our clients. Helping others is just in my nature, and nothing beats the feeling of watching other businesses grow and succeed.
So, what do we do exactly? Well, we offer a range of services – content creation, video editing, strategies, scheduling, and optimization – you name it! But where I really shine is working with my neurodivergent clients. As someone who’s autistic/ADHD, I know firsthand how hard it can be to keep your brand consistent on social media. That’s why I’ve made it my mission to help other neurodivergent business owners feel comfortable with social media marketing. And let me tell you, there’s no better feeling than seeing our clients killin’ it on social media!

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Hey, if you’re looking to grow your clientele, I’m here to tell you that the best way to do it is by keeping it real and staying consistent. Trust me, burnout is no joke, and you’re more likely to crash and burn if you set crazy huge goals right out of the gate.
Building a solid relationship with your potential clients is key. They want to do business with brands they can trust, so realistic consistency is key. If you’re always showing up on social media and connecting with your followers, they’ll see that you care and that you get them. So, make sure you’re putting in the work to build that relationship, and the clients will come.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
In my line of work, it’s super important to really get to know the brands I’m working with and make sure the content I create for them sounds like it’s coming straight from them. That’s why as soon as I start working with a new brand, I focus on building a solid relationship with them. And let me tell ya, communication is everything. When we’re on the same page, the content I create for them just flows. Plus, I’ve found that when a brand feels truly understood and represented, it fosters some major loyalty. And who doesn’t love a little loyalty, amirite?
