We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alex Rogers. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alex below.
Hi Alex, thanks for joining us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
LFW is short for Look For Work clothing co. It’s a saying used a lot in my time in the military. Whether it’s in the kill house, around the platoon hut or at home on the weekend. Being proactive and productive is how you achieve success. No matter what you want to be successful in, you need to put in the work, even if that means being uncomfortable and trying something new without guidance. Learning along the way to set yourself, your family, your team, your community up for the future. All things worth having take time to get, handouts and entitlement are what to many people look for nowadays. Hard work, innovation and being unsure of your next steps are all apart of the journey to a place you want to get yourself. I try to live by this Look For Work mindset daily. It’s not easy but it is rewarding.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started LFW because I wanted something that I could call mine, it’s got my name on it, it’s got my seal of approval and it represents what I believe in. I picked clothes because clothes are something I have always liked and wanted. I workout, run, swim, bike and do a lot of martial arts. I also like to just be casual, so I decided why not make clothes that I like that I already wear for the most part. So it began, I started making clothes. I’m proud of myself for starting this and getting my brand and ideas out there and I hope to spread it and continue to inspire others to do the same.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I started off just by putting stuff on my credit card, no real plan or anything. Just a belief that I would do well. As I started to grow and make sales I got a loan and then I did another. I’m in debt still from it but I have a good base of people as well as what I know I want and what I think is working. It’s still in the grind phase, but I am moving forward.

How did you build your audience on social media?
This has been a hard one for me. My following is still low but they’re real and they’re good. I just post stuff to my Instagram and LinkedIn that represents the LFW agenda. It hasn’t been an overnight success but it is something that I have enjoyed watching grow, even when it’s been slow.
