We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alex Love a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, thanks for joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?

1. I was already interested in alkaline water because of research and college.

As the Flint Michigan water crisis unfolded in 2016, Alex Love knew he had to do something to help. With his Masters in Public Health from Tennessee State University, he set out to create a solution that would not only provide clean, healthy water to those in need, but also support and uplift the black community.

Thus, the Garden of Y.O.U.T.H. alkaline water company was born.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.

Initially I was selling alkaline water to give awareness to others who didn’t know. I was using the money for basic needs like gas and grooming. Eventually I was asking so much water that I had to invest more time and money into and take it more serious. Selling out all of your inventory is a critical and important point for a brand

How did you build your audience on social media?

Posting my logo everyday online like a madman. To the point people blocked and unfollowed my page. Eventually people saw it so much they because comfortable with me and what my vision was
