We recently connected with Alessandra Dearing and have shared our conversation below.
Alessandra, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
One of the biggest things my parents did right was believing in me before I fully believed in myself. From a very young age, they always reminded me that I was capable of more than I realized. They taught me that you don’t start at the finish line. If you want to grow, you have to be willing to try, fall down, learn, and keep going. That mindset has shaped so much of who I am today.
There was always a strong emphasis in our home on seeking out opportunities to learn. My parents taught me that the only way to truly get good at something is to do it over and over again, even when it feels uncomfortable at first. That gave me the confidence to step into new situations, take risks, and trust that experience itself is part of the process.
They also instilled an incredible work ethic in me, but not in a transactional way. It was always rooted in how you treat people. My parents believed you should put into the world what you hope to receive back from it, whether that’s kindness, effort, integrity, or care. That absolutely carries into my career today. I care deeply about my clients, my community, and my relationships because I genuinely believe people remember how you make them feel. I try to show up with consistency, follow-through, and a level of care that reflects the kind of world I want to be part of.
Something else I’ve always admired about my parents is their perspective on people and relationships. They’ve always believed there’s something to learn from everyone, regardless of age, background, or culture. Growing up around that mindset gave me a much broader view of people and community. It taught me to listen, stay curious, and value different perspectives. I think that creates not only better relationships, but a fuller life.
Looking back, I think one of the greatest gifts they gave me was allowing me to become my own person. They wanted me to become the best version of myself, not simply a reflection of them. Having that kind of support and belief behind you makes you feel like there’s really nothing you can’t work toward.

Alessandra, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a Tri-Cities native and real estate agent who genuinely loves helping people navigate major life transitions with more clarity and confidence. To me, buying or selling a home is never just a transaction. It’s usually tied to a bigger life moment, and I take that responsibility seriously.
I work with buyers, sellers, and relocation clients throughout the Tri-Cities, helping them navigate the market, negotiations, timelines, and all the moving pieces that come with real estate. Because I’ve lived here my entire life, I’m also able to give clients a deeper understanding of neighborhoods, schools, and the community itself.
What sets me apart is the level of care, communication, and consistency I bring to my clients. I’m calm under pressure, detail-oriented, and proactive when challenges come up. I want people to feel informed, supported, and genuinely cared for throughout the process.
Outside of real estate, I’ve spent years volunteering, coaching youth sports, leading PTA events, and serving within my community. Those experiences shaped my work ethic and reinforced the importance of showing up for people well.
I’m proud of the trust and relationships I’ve built over the years, especially because so much of my business comes from referrals and repeat clients. At the end of the day, I want people to know that when they work with me, they’re getting someone who listens, communicates clearly, and truly advocates for them every step of the way.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I’ve always been someone who learns best through conversations and hearing how other people think, then taking those ideas and applying them in real life. One resource that’s had a big impact on me is the Brian Buffini podcast. His approach to relationships and business really resonated with me because it’s rooted in genuinely caring about people. He talks a lot about authentic connection, taking care of people well, and building trust through consistency and service. That philosophy shaped a lot of how I approach real estate and client relationships today.
A book that also had a significant impact on me was Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis. Early in my career, I found myself over-apologizing, especially if I felt like I hadn’t communicated something perfectly or made a mistake. Reading that book helped shift my mindset. I realized that confidence matters, not just for myself, but for the people I’m serving. Once I stopped diminishing my words and started communicating with more clarity and ownership, I noticed a huge difference in both my business and my relationships. Clients reflected that confidence back to me, and it strengthened the trust they had in me.
Both of those resources impacted me in different ways, but they ultimately reinforced the same idea: people want to feel cared for, confident in who they’re working with, and supported by someone who communicates clearly and genuinely.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
One of the best sources of new clients for me has been my BNI networking group. When I first got into real estate, I remember hearing about the group and being excited about the opportunity to join. Six seasoned professionals were interviewing for one open spot, and I earned that position by showing up with enthusiasm, preparation, and a genuine desire to grow.
At the time, I didn’t realize how much of an impact that group would end up having on both my business and my personal growth. Today, around 30% of my clients come from relationships connected to BNI, but the value has gone far beyond referrals alone.
Being surrounded by business owners from completely different industries gave me a much broader perspective on what it means to build and run a successful business. I’ve learned from doctors, massage therapists, contractors, financial professionals, and so many others who all approach service, leadership, and community in different ways. It helped me think beyond real estate and focus more deeply on how to serve people well and build a business rooted in trust and consistency.
The group has also connected me more deeply to the Tri-Cities community through volunteering, sponsorships, and local involvement. Having a network of people who support each other, share referrals, and genuinely want to see each other succeed has been incredibly impactful. It taught me that real estate is not just about transactions. It’s about relationships, reputation, and being a good steward of the community you serve.
