We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Aivia Jones a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Aivia , thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
I’ve always been the one to take risk but the biggest risk I’ve ever taken was being let go from a company and starting up my very own day spa from the ground up as scared as I was I knew I could do it and i knew that it would mean sacrificing and learning to adapt to any obstacle i may face while building from the ground up. Never be scared to take the risk be scared of not taking the risk and missing out on possibly the best decision of your life.

Aivia , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Aivia Jones and I am a certified and licensed in Bodywork & Hydrotherapy. Being diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease at the age of 19 led me to my greatest adventure yet and that was attending The Florida School Of Massage Therapy located in Gainesville,Florida where I learned my craft and graduated in November of 2015 from there I’ve worked in the spa industry for other companies for 5yrs until it was time to start my very own day spa. I stared off with a mobile massage business traveling to clients homes while working for other companies and in 2021 I ventured out on my own, changed my business name, found a location, and created So Serene Massage Day Spa a day spa specializing in Bodywork and Beaty treatments. We offering in spa and mobile appointments. Being able to feel beautiful and powerful in your own body is what we strive for here So Serene Massage Day Spa we are big on self-care and think it should be mandatory to practice even in the home and that’s why we offer a wide variety of therapeutic home and body retail at the spa as well. Being able to help remove pain and bring back confidence is my favorite thing to do and I can proudly say I have impacted a touched a few lives during my career as a massage therapist and business owner.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A HUGE lesson I had to unlearn in my business was doing favors or giving our many discounts and not sticking to my policies. A lot of confusion and miscommunication cost me money and a few clients. If I had to unlearn something it would be letting clients get away with not abiding by my policies.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Keeping up with the social media trends can be tricky and often times they change very often I can say what stick with me was doing a few live videos a month to promote new retail items, announce any spa updates, & to host giveaways. I’ve built my business by using numerous hashtags and interacting with my followers.
