We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Adrianne Watson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Adrianne below.
Alright, Adrianne thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
Last September 2025, I started something small, a gardening Bible study, and the idea of a gardening business. It wasn’t loud. It wasn’t flashy. It was just a seed.
At the time, I still had my job. I thought I was building something on the side.
But at the end of January 2026, I was laid off.
And suddenly, that little seed didn’t feel like a hobby anymore; it felt like a decision.
I had two choices: panic and start applying for more jobs… or bet on myself.
So I chose faith over fear.
I got licensed as a Texas nursery.
I enrolled in IAP to pursue my gardener certification.
And instead of sending out résumés, I started planting.
It was risky. It was uncomfortable. But sometimes the biggest harvest comes after the scariest pruning.
I didn’t just lose a job.
I gained purpose.
And I decided to grow.

Adrianne, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My story began in a backyard.
Forty-five years ago, as a little girl, I learned how to garden alongside my mother. We planted together, watered together, and watched tiny seeds turn into something beautiful. I didn’t realize it then, but she wasn’t just teaching me how to grow plants; she was teaching me patience, faith, and resilience.
Almost 30 years ago, I answered another calling in ministry. What started as serving grew into a lifelong commitment to helping others grow spiritually. In 1998, I stepped into professional speaking, sharing messages of faith, leadership, and purpose with audiences who were ready to bloom into their next season.
Over the years, creativity has always been part of my journey. I built my art business, Oil Pink, as an expression of beauty, boldness, and storytelling through visual art. Whether through paint or petals, I’ve always believed that growth is both spiritual and creative.
Today, all those paths have come together.
I am the founder of Life’s Lessons Through the Garden, a Bible study that connects scripture to the timeless principles of gardening. I also operate a licensed Texas nursery and gardening business where I sell plants and herbs to help others cultivate not just gardens, but confidence.
What I’m most proud of isn’t just the businesses.
I’m proud that my life reflects consistency.
Faith.
Creativity.
Courage.
When I was laid off in January 2026, I chose to bet on myself instead of going back to what was familiar. I leaned fully into the vision God planted in me. I pursued certification, built my nursery, and expanded the work I had quietly started months earlier.
I believe in:
• Growing where you’re planted
• Turning setbacks into seasons of planting
• Teaching what I’ve lived
• Building things that last
I’m married to Pastor Arthur L. Watson Jr., my partner in faith and life, and we share our home with our Cavapoo, Krypo, who, in true fashion, supervises most garden activities.
When you connect with me, you’re not just following gardening tips. You’re stepping into a story about faith, growth, leadership, and legacy.
Because gardens aren’t just about plants.
They’re about transformation.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When I started building my social media presence, I didn’t start with perfection in mind. I started with consistency.
I already had years of experience in ministry, professional speaking (since 1998), art through Oil Pink, and gardening that began 45 years ago in the backyard of my childhood home. What I realized was that social media wasn’t about creating a new identity; it was about bringing all of who I already was into one clear message.
In my first month on YouTube, I reached 14,500 views.
Within six weeks, I was averaging 11,500 views.
That didn’t happen because I “went viral.” It happened because I was intentional.
What did I do differently?
1. I was clear about my niche.
I didn’t try to talk about everything. I focused on gardening, specifically real-life gardening, budget finds, nursery visits, seed shopping, faith, and practical tips.
2. I showed up consistently.
Short-form content works when you post consistently. I didn’t wait for perfect lighting or perfect editing. I recorded what I was already doing, such as shopping for pots, browsing flowers, fixing pavers, and assembling a bench.
3. I leaned into the story.
People don’t just follow tips; they follow journeys.
The chair hunt.
The seed addiction.
The greenhouse to patio transition.
The layoff and betting on myself.
Story builds connection. Connection builds an audience.
4. I used searchable titles.
I treated every video like someone was searching for it.
“Hardening Off Cool-Weather Vegetables”
“Walmart vs Home Depot Seed Prices.”
“How to Assemble a Garden Bench.”
Search is long-term growth. Not just trends.
5. I invited engagement.
I asked for opinions.
I asked for help finding a chair.
I asked viewers what they would plant.
People respond when they feel included.
Advice for Those Just Starting
• Start before you feel ready.
• Don’t wait for better equipment; use your phone.
• Be clear about what you want to be known for.
• Speak to a specific audience, not “everyone.”
• Let people see your personality.
Most importantly: don’t chase views; build value.
Views are numbers.
Trust is currency.
When you consistently show up, teach what you know, and let people see your authenticity, growth becomes inevitable.
I didn’t build an audience overnight. I built momentum by planting consistently.
And just like gardening, what you nurture will grow.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the clearest moments of resilience in my life happened at the beginning of 2026.
In September 2025, I quietly started a gardening Bible study and began laying the groundwork for a gardening business. At the time, I still had my job. It felt safe. It felt supplemental. I thought I was building something “on the side.”
Then, at the end of January 2026, I was laid off.
Suddenly, what had been a side vision became the only vision.
There was a moment where I had to decide:
Do I scramble to replace what I lost?
Or do I trust what I’ve been building?
Instead of rushing to apply for more jobs, I chose to bet on myself.
I became licensed as a Texas nursery.
I enrolled in the IAP gardener certification program.
I leaned fully into Life’s Lessons Through the Garden Bible Study.
I committed to building my plant and herb business.
It wasn’t reckless. It was intentional courage.
Resilience for me wasn’t pretending I wasn’t afraid. It was moving forward while I was afraid.
Gardening taught me this long ago; sometimes pruning looks like loss. But pruning makes room for stronger growth. Losing my job felt like pruning. But it created space for purpose.
What I’m most proud of isn’t that everything worked immediately. It’s that I didn’t retreat when things shifted. I stayed planted.
Resilience isn’t loud.
It’s steady.
It’s choosing to grow when it would be easier to shrink.
And that season reminded me that sometimes God removes what’s comfortable so you can step fully into what’s calling you.
