We recently connected with Adrian Simpson and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Adrian, thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
So in my opinion a great product or service is the first step to being successful but it can’t be only dependent on that. Having a great product or service without any consumer is like not even having a proof service because there’s no one to tell others about it or get to experience it so that they would want to experience it again. Success has no limits and the more successful you become, you’re going to keep chasing for more. Growing up in Jamaica I’ve always been thought to act broke even if you have it and never stop. So to me it takes hard work, determination and a whole lot of research and development to become successful and always be your brand because no one knows it better than you.

Adrian, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
So my name is Adrian Simpson I’m 29 years old and I’m the owner of sauce Dackta which is an online store that specializes in sauces and seasonings inspired by the flavors of the Caribbean, I got into this business because ever since I was about 7 years old I was buying and selling candy and snacks in school or in my community and my passion for cooking started at the young age of 13 and through that love I’ve owned my craft and opened up my first restaurant at 23 years old and operated it for two year which is where my love for creating sauces and sauce dackta was birthed. What I think sets me apart is that I live to add personal touches within my business and build a strong connection with my customers. I pack every order and include a personal note and I’m always giving back to my customers. I’m very proud of the products and how well received they are by many. I love that my customers feel so special when they receive their orders and some even said the best black business encounter. I pride myself on running an ethical business and my customers are always top priority.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
So when I started my restaurant back in the day I had additional funding through my dad who became a partner along with my savings from my previous job. This is why I think it’s always important to save because it makes it so much easier to get someone to invest in your dream when you yourself have something to bring to the table other than just your talents.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Well I closed my restaurant after 2 years and I knew that wouldn’t be the end of my entrepreneurial quest so I used a recipe that was started in my restaurant to create another business and through the transition of owning my own business to closing it and looking for another job I started YouTube and social media which was another avenue to help the brand on whole so turned one unfortunate situation into another positive
