Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Adjani Loaiza . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Adjani , thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I started Fancy Society because I wanted to create a brand that offered pretty jewelry, made with high quality materials but affordable. The majority of my jewelry pieces are made with authentic Swarovski crystals, when people see the word Swarovski, they automatically think it’s extremely expensive. But for me, it’s more about making my brand accessible. I know what it’s like to want a pretty piece of jewelry and not being able to afford it or having to budget for it. I believe you can be fancy without spending a lot. My mission is to make a sparkly brand that makes everyone smile, with my colorful collection.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
My name is Adjani! ( Ad+Jay+Nee) I have always loved jewelry. Being born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. I saw fashion everywhere. I loved seeing how a piece of jewelry completely changed a look. When I was a little girl, I would spend hours playing in my mother’s jewelry box, sometimes when she was getting ready to go out, she would let me select her jewelry, this was my favorite and still one of my favorite memories. On Saturdays, I would go to flea markets and go to every booth that had jewelry! When I was in middle school, I spent my allowance at Claire’s! Costume Jewelry has always and still is my favorite. I used to take jewelry apart to create new pieces. When I got older, I became a buyer for a small boutique, selecting the jewelry was something I truly loved. Customers always gave me compliments on the selections and on my personal jewelry. I always loved colorful and unique pieces, brands like Betsey Johnson, Tarina Tarantino and Loren Hope fill my jewelry boxes. As much as I loved those brands, sometimes buying those pieces was not an option, because of their retail price. That’s when I knew, I wanted to start my own jewelry business.
When I started Fancy Society, I knew what I wanted my brand to be fun anf kept cost in my mind. Fancy Society is a combination of my own creations and curated collection. I started learning how to make jewelry, set stones and got my EIN to start buying fun pieces. When searching for sparkly stones, Swarovski kept coming up, so I started sourcing them. I started with custom pieces then slowly started adding them to my site. Making jewelry with Swarovski crystals and keeping the prices affordable is what sets me apart from other jewelry brands. I am proud that I don’t compromise on my mission, even after I’ve been told to raise my prices. My jewelry has been used in a lot of photo shoots and this summer I was chosen to be the summer resident every weekend at the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island. Networking has completely changed not just my life but my business. I am beyond gratedul to be where I am and although I am nowhere near where I would love to be, I have learned a lot and met so many wonderful people in this journey. Fancy Society is more than a brand, it’s a club of nice girls that love sparkles, pink and statement pieces. I wish all the fancy girls could be friends!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Remaining authentic, not following trends and engaging with my followers and non followers. I do believe I have a pretty feed, I often get messages that they love my aesthetic. It’s very girly. Even when creating reels, you’ll never see me dancing to a trend. That doesn’t feel natural to me. Long are the days when all you had to do was share a photo and you were done. Now you have to have a strategy, do what’s trending, use the right hashtags and keywords. So educating myself on those things is helping me built my presence.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Beign a small business owner is hard, and growing your brand is even harder, then add a pandemic to the mix, oh man, that was an extremely difficult time. People were no longer buying from me online, I knew I had to make a change. I started networking and doing pop ups. The people I started meeting would tell me about markets and pop up opportunities and I started following local businesses on social media and did a lot of searching. I hit the road running and that’s how I started growing.
