Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Adam Taylor. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Adam thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Often outsiders look at a successful business and think it became a success overnight. Even media and especially movies love to gloss over nitty, gritty details that went into that middle phase of your business – after you started but before you got to where you are today. In our experience, overnight success is usually the result of years of hard work laying the foundation for success, but unfortunately, it’s exactly this part of the story that most of the media ignores. Can you talk to us about your scaling up story – what are some of the nitty, gritty details folks should know about?
there is a lot to unpack here and would prefer to do it in person but a few themes come to mind:
1) Trade money for time back
2) Inspect what you expect from employees/team members
3)Always evaluate your high pay off
4)Invest in others hardcore
5)Stay process oriented, not outcome oriented
6)Have a mentor/be a mentor

Adam, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Adam Taylor, a husband, father, Army National Guard officer, real estate investor, and leader of Adam Taylor & Team in the Upstate of South Carolina. I got into real estate because I saw that, done well, it can change the trajectory of a family for generations. Today, our team helps people buy, sell, invest in, and finance real estate across the Upstate, and we’ve helped more than 800 families through roughly $400 million in sales. My background in professional athletics, banking, the Army, and investing gives me a different perspective and allows me to advise from experience, not just theory. We also own investment properties ourselves, so we understand the opportunities, risks, and emotions our clients are navigating. What sets us apart is that we aim to be much more than a transaction-based real estate team; our mission is to be the resource for all things real estate in the Upstate. We help people cut through the noise, make wise decisions, and build wealth, health, and happiness through real estate. What I’m most proud of is the culture we’ve built around the values of character, culture, consistency, and competence, and the impact that has had on our clients and community.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
All I wanted to do was to replace my wifes income when she was going to stay at home with the kids. That “side hustle” birthed Adam Taylor and Team’s journey! I worked 3 jobs for 3 years to make this a reality.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Definitely trustworthiness. It comes from being genuine and earnest (one of our cultural commitments) along with a high amount of throughput and ability to perform at a high level. We are almost 95% sphere, repeat, and referral business which is a very organic way to grow business. We are community based agents that operate at a very high level.
