We recently connected with ABIGAIL TJADEN and have shared our conversation below.
ABIGAIL, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you manage your own social media?
I recently took a creative freedom strategy course with Bimma Williams. In our cohort, I learned more about marketing and how to use my social platforms as a networking tool. Instead of just posting content at random, I now have more vision and insights into how I want to share my expertise. By niching down, I can showcase the work I want to be hired for.

ABIGAIL, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As a respected figure in graphic design, my achievements are testament to my expertise. With a bestselling title on Amazon spanning three categories and securing the #1 Top New Release spot across five genres, my illustrative style and storytelling have garnered widespread acclaim.
Notably, the distinctive logo I created for Pip’s Original Doughnuts and Chai has adorned countless boxes since 2018 and has seen thousands of stickers sold. Similarly, my unique postcard designs for The Portland Night Market project have reached an audience of 6,376 individuals over the past two years. These accomplishments underscore my significant impact in the field of graphic design.
With the honor of being selected for two prestigious international art residency programs in Reykjavík, Iceland, and Lisbon, Portugal, coupled with my extensive global travels, I bring a unique and expansive perspective to my design work. This breadth of experience underscores my dedication to storytelling and highlights my expertise in creating impactful designs tailored specifically for clients in the food and beverage industry.
Drawing from my Midwestern heritage rooted in hard work and discipline, complemented by the entrepreneurial spirit instilled by my grandparents, I am deeply committed to delivering excellence in every facet of the design process.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Networking in an authentic way. I literally started out with handing out cookies instead of business cards. Cookies turned into conversations, conversations turned into art shows and sharing my work, to then finding myself receiving emails about illustrative projects. I also got plugged into community events where I a got to meet other creative entrepreneurs.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Consistency. Being an expert in my field, showing the work I want to be hired for, and going after projects that align with my purpose.
