We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Abel Sanchez Jr. a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Abel, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
As a small Texas border town boy who’s dream was to move to NYC to fulfill his dreams as a professional dancer and was ridiculed by his town. Breaking all barriers I was able to make my dream a reality and not only experience life as a professional dancer. I opened my mind to learn various traites from fitness, fashion, event production, just to name a few. I now love sharing my experiences with the public, pushing others to live their dreams, and give guidance on ignoring the cynical. Through my experiences i have created a platform utilizing my small business to help share with people to embrace confidence and guid others thru self empowerment to LIVE THEIR BEST LIFE.
One of my corporations objectives is also to strive for improvement and unity. We do that by sharing our life experiences as a firm and how they’ve strengthened us. It’s become one of the assets in perceiving our costumers with dignity and respect comprehending all cultures, values, beliefs, language, customs, and etiquette.
My company, WYNOT International LLC, is a company that offers a wide range of services that are designed to change your life for the better.
We build brands that give expression to what you already are, and this helps you maintain or even improve upon it. We’re all about transformation, and we want to help you achieve your goals. Your purpose is our passion.
Abel, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was born and raised in a small town located in deep down south Texas called Eagle Pass. I was blessed with the parents I have who I consider my heroes and role models. My father who was born in Mexico, crossed the Rio Grande with his mother, as well as siblings, looking for a better life and to live the American dream. Fell in love with my mother in high school, who was born in California and came from a hardworking Mexican family that worked the fields in the state of Indiana to make a living. My father 19 going on 20, my mother at 16, got married, and had their first born, Abel Sanchez Jr. Due to the circumstances, my father dropped out of college to work and provide for his new family. My mother too, dropped out of high school. My parents didn’t slow down, nor did they find excuses or people to blame. Going from old tarnished apartments to living with my grandparents, my parents never showed signs of struggle. They were the first to demonstrate to me confidence, that all Barriers can be broken, and that all things are possible with strong work ethic, determination, and strong faith. Dad and mom continued to have children, total of 5 in fact. My father continued to work on his U.S. Citizenship which of course he achieved. My mother juggled being a full time mom, as well as a paying full time job to help my father provide to our big family, and went back to school attending night classes where she received her GED, later her Bachelors in Education, and then of course her Masters. I was lucky and blessed to see my heroes go from having nothing to now being recently retired. My father retired from the US Post Office, where he even lobbied for the postal union in Washington DC and my mother from the education field where she taught middle school level reading and literature. They are still happily living life back home in Eagle Pass in their huge 3 floor home that sits on two lots which my parents tell us they are so grateful to have because their children and now grandchildren have a place to call home if ever needed.
Witnessing my super heroes at work made me the person I am today, hard working, helping others, breaking barriers, knowing all things are possible with determination and strong faith. I too have my story but I can fill you in on my companies media company’s podcast, TalkGenix. Which can be found on Amazon Music, Iheart Radio, Spotify, Google Podcast, and more. Just search, TalkGenix. My company WYNOT International LLC is not only the umbrella corporation to Universal Media, but also WYNOT Fitness(an online fitness gym), Miami WYNOT Eat( the company that will run 3 restaurant chains. First one will open in two months, Cantina Tejano), and ION Productions(the event production company of WYNOT Int. Which also provides Broadway and Vegas like theater productions). All these companies were created because of the love of that particular craft which I learned in the past either thru my time living in NYC as professional dancer, working as an international Flight attendant, as well as my extensive background in health and fitness. I also learned a lot as a choreographer for American major Latin network, Univision. Where I had the chance to choreograph for numerous Latin Grammy winners on projects like the Latin Music award show, Premios Texas.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My business and life were completely halted about 10 years ago due to illness. I ignored signs because I was focused on my business and work itself, but God had other plans for me. Whether I embraced or ignored the lesson, I was going to learn how strong I was as a person. After spending three months bedridden due to illness and another three months in the ICU. Not only did I recover, but I learned one of the most significant life lessons, to be patient and grateful every day. From that time in my life, I have used my life’s lessons to help me succeed with my company today.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
I have been leading teams or managing groups since I was fifteen years old. Leading competitive dance teams to nationals and placing in the top five, managing fitness trainers, and now leading my company’s staff. Whenever I have evaluated an individual’s performance, I have used constructive criticism to encourage positive change. To acknowledge outstanding work, I always make sure to say “Good Job” or “Great Work” when necessary.
