We were lucky to catch up with Aaron Steinberg recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Aaron thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Almost every entrepreneur we know has considered donating a portion of their sales to an organization or cause – how did you make the decision of whether to donate? We’d love to hear the backstory if you’re open to sharing the details.
I come from a nonprofit background, so I understand the importance of these organizations and the dedication of those who run them. Supporting charitable causes is a core value of my business, and we contribute in several ways.
We make direct donations to local initiatives that positively impact the community and enhance our collective quality of life. Additionally, since our marketing services are valuable to many nonprofits, we offer significant discounts to all nonprofit organizations and provide pro bono services to the smallest ones without a marketing budget.
Beyond financial and professional support, I personally give my time to local causes. I recently joined the volunteer committee for our local End Alzheimer’s Walk and look forward to finding more ways to give back to the broader community.

Aaron, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Aaron, and I run a digital marketing agency based in Nyack, NY. I am a husband and father of three, and I started out my career working for non-profit organizations. I approach business similar to how I approached my charitable work – I’m here to help. I love working with other entrepreneurial-minded individuals to support their business and solve a marketing problem they are facing.
Some of our most popular services are email campaigns and social media management. We can make sure you stay in regular contact with your client list, without having to create the content yourself! We make it easy and affordable to make sure your message is getting out there weekly to the people you want as repeat and first time customers.
We also manage a network of indoor billboards in shops and restaurants in our local area. These billboards allow local business owners to get in front of their potential customers every day where they eat, shop and play.
We are a values-driven business, and we want to work with other businesses that care about the quality of their work, and how they treat their customers, employees and vendors.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I built my reputation in my business hand shake by hand shake. I am rooted in my local community, and from the very beginning I made it my mission to meet as many people as possible, learn about them, and make a good impression. If possible, I would try to help them out with something through free advice or an introduction to someone else. It didn’t matter if they were potential clients of mine or not – I wanted to be known as someone generous and helpful. Over time, that has resulted in business and an eagerness for people to return the favor and make new introductions for me.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Books have been extremely valuable resource for me in building my business and thinking about what it means to run a business. Dan Martell’s Buy Back Your Time has been essential for understanding how to get out of my own way, and allow other people to join my team and allow me to scale. It can be scary to let go of certain responsibilities, and hire someone else to do something you know you can do well. But as Dan would say, an 80% job done by someone else is 100% awesome.
Oliver Burkeman’s Meditations for Mortals isn’t necessarily a business book, but an invaluable book for navigating modern life, and keeping a perspective on what matters in the short term and the long term. It’s easy to get caught up in whatever seems urgent at work, but you can’t forget that what truly matters in life is rarely found in your inbox.
