One of the most important ways to have a large impact in life is by focusing on communities that are ignored and overlooked. These communities are often the ones most in need of help, tools, and services but for a variety of reasons the largest players in most industries chose not to work on serving them. We’ve been so touched by the thousands of members of our community who are working on serving the underserved from tackling food deserts to building empowering solutions for the neurodiverse. I believe the simplest way to answer this question will be anecdotally. Recently, I had a customer, we will call her “Anna”, and she was very frustrated before booking our services. She told us that she was tired of mundane, cookie-cutter events and wanted to experience something unique and personal for once. Over the past few years, I have been working with some of NURILENS’ eye experts to understand the challenges Blacks and other people of color face regarding their eye health. Annually, I host a special giveback photoshoot for bereaved moms who have experienced pregnancy and infant loss. As a mom who has experienced 6 pregnancy losses, I understand the many emotions and hardships these moms go through. And I wanted to offer an opportunity to help these moms feel loved, seen and heard.
