Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcia Hoffheins
Hi Marcia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I actually just attended my 30 year college reunion. This is really where my story starts. I went to a small – all women’s school that – honestly – I had no desire to really go to. However, it was chosen for me – and like with everything in life, it was exactly what I needed – even though I had no idea.
I learned to love myself. I learned how to be fully ME and to love myself there. At the same time, I/we learned how to support each other as women. On this small campus full of traditions, rituals and history – we all grew together, supporting one another. In such a small class, we all knew each other. We might not have all been running in the exact same circles – but it was impossible to not be inspired by each other and what we did and did well.
I went into Corporate America out of College – like most did back in the 90’s. I found my way – I figured things out and had a very successful career at a very young age. I also found another group of women who became profound mentors and role models for me. My direct boss and her boss were dynamite women who made me feel the same as I did at Wells.
What does this have to do with anything? My whole business is designed to support women – not just for their own growth – but to forge strong relationships with each other. What I’ve found over the years is that women aren’t taught to really support each other. Sure we find groups to be in – AND – why not lift everyone up – even those who aren’t part of our inner circle? This is something that I’m really passionate about.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course not.
In fact, I’ve had to learn my fair share of lessons along this road. I lost myself NUMEROUS times to the competition game. I sat inside of really toxic work relationships and friendships that – really made me question my own self worth.
I worked for women who were threatened by my success. Yes, indeed. I was let go of one of my teaching jobs beacuse my classes were too big. I had another woman make sure there were always other “people” around checking in on my classes because she thought I was padding my class numbers.
However, I use all of these moments as stories to help teach others. I use my own life as the story that helps other’s break through. Not to gain pitty, not to ask for anything – just to shine a light on the ways we ask each other to stay small.
My DESIRE is to show women that they can love the way I felt love from my girlfriends during my time at Wells. It was one of the most special opportunities I had in this life and I want to show everyone that it is possible.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I don’t specialize in one thing! That’s my gift – and I fully embrace it.
I’m a Yoga Professional – Educator actually. This is my longest career – 20 years I’ve been at this gig. I love leading workshops, trainings and educational series for students and teachers to empower themselves with the practice!
I’m an Executive and Life Coach – I won’t back down on this one! :) Coaching is coaching and I carry those 2 titles so I can be accessible to all. I focus on women, and I do have a light roster of men.
I am a Human Design Reader! I read your energy! I help you learn about you. And man, it’s such a fun piece of my life.
I’m a breathwork coach, a somatic “yoga’ guide and I do 1:1 movement classes for those who need the healing.
I also am a retreat facilitator, run a wonderful group for women in small business with my co-pilot Angela Goodman and I love every piece of my puzzle!
AND – at the end of the day – all of these things do 1 thing. Help the person learn more about themselves, empower themselves and trust/believe in themselves so that they can go into the world and serve and support others!
(BTW – I’m a Virgo Sun/Cap Moon – Manifesting Generator 2/5)
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I live in a small town – now. We moved here in 2020. I needed to get out of the noise and busyness of Loudoun County VA. This small town has taught me small town lessons. In fact, unless you live in one – you might not know what I mean.
And, I love the quiet, the life that my husband and I are living here together. It’s what my nervous system needed and exactly where I need to be for me to live – just not to do business or have friends – I’ve learned that really clearly over the past year!
I would not trade this experience for the world! It really has helped me see a different dynamic in living. We get accustom to our own environment – and it is a new way for me to understand how the community can also impact growth and support.
