Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandt Parke
Hi Brandt, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was surrounded by music from a very early age. Every family event and even daily life was always surrounded by music, and I’m very grateful for that. Because of that, I became fascinated with the various aspects of music and what it had to offer. I started playing percussion in my middle school band at age 13, which is around the same time I picked up the guitar. From that point, music became my life and still is a huge part of it. I just want to be the best musician and creative that I can be, and it’s motivating to know that there is always growth and progress to be had. I believe music is a lifestyle, and that’s the way I live. I do have a day job to take care of certain necessities, but outside of that, I am completely submerged in music. It’s awesome and extremely fulfilling.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t believe any road is completely smooth… Anything worthwhile will come with obstacles, tough decisions, and pain. But, that’s what makes it worthwhile. Going through those struggles is proof that you feel for it, love it, and care deeply about/for it.
Some of the struggles along the way were self confidence, maintaining motivation/commitment, relationships (intimate/friendships/band mates/business), and finding a purpose. I know I’ve always loved music, but I’ve never necessarily understood why… It’s just always been there, as a friend and a drive, but also a release and way of coping with the various intensities of life.
Not until years later did I realize that music has always been a part of me, and that’s it. That simple. I am music, and music is me, which is why I will never let it go. There is a bond here that words cannot accurately describe, but I am so happy to be a part of it and the amazing adventures it has and will continue to bring me.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I guess I’d say that I am a session musician at this point in life. I have multiple projects of my own, and am also consistently hired to perform, record, write, and teach. It’s so much fun playing with various bands and artists in cool places, and being able to experience and slightly tap into other artists’ creative mindsets and thoughts/processes.
I specialize in guitar and bass, but am also very experienced with percussion instruments. I’d say I’m known for my guitar playing.
I’m proud of being able to do and play music so often. It’s taken a lot, but it provides me with a healthy work-life balance that keeps me focused and motivated. I couldn’t be more grateful.
I speak the musical language, and various instruments keep things fun and new and interesting. And you keep learning! What separates me is that I use various instruments to speak and communicate the musical language.
Any big plans?
Keep on playing!
Taking one day at a time, staying focused, making realistic goals, and having good times with people I love. That’s it.
More music coming soon, and a potential tour!
