Today we’d like to introduce you to Jakyrannee Phillips
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey started with a t-shirt stating “See It, Write It, Believe It, Proverbs 18:16.” I live by this statement daily and believe that whenever God gives you a vision, you see it, write it down in a journal, believe it to happen, and trust that your gift will make room for you. Following, I self published my first book “Broken The Underdog.” The book discussed my childhood perspective on life and how I handle and overcame obstacles. I learned that becoming a published author can open many doors to create different streams of income. I began traveling talking about my book, doing transformation speaking and workshops. Also, I was a full-time college student which expand my network and allowed me to create more products that went along with my business. I grew to love entrepreneurship and assisting others by sharing value resources and information along the way. Having a bachelors in Mass Communications and soon to be Masters in December 2024; I’m able to apply my expertise knowledge to assist companies in scaling their brand. By remaining consistent has allowed me to build a trustable and honest brand that still driving successfully by the grace of God.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been smooth being that I didn’t come from a wealthy family full of resources. Unfortunately, life doesn’t hand us anything and you have to work hard for the things you want. I sacrifice sleep, time, and what’s considered fun in society to build generational wealth. I’m a young adult with a vision that others can’t quite see and fully understand yet. It can become discouraging especially prepping events and having low participation. Furthermore, in entrepreneurship there will be good days and bad days. Consistency, balance, and faith is inessential and vital to staying on track. I’ve had many struggles being the youngest in the room. Being confident in yourself and business will take you a long way.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in being a young serial entrepreneur. I’m known for started my entrepreneurial journey as a teenager and growing in a successful, educated influencer within my community.
I’m most proud of being on the #1 Winning team “Southern Harmony” of Propel Arts & Entertainment Accelerator Internship 2024. I had the pleasure to be surrounded with other creatives from 19 HBCUs and served as co-captain. During my journey I was co-songwriter, hairstylist, makeup artist, creative director, and assisted with marketing. Being able to contribute ideas, work as a team, overcoming obstacles was life changing and played off well. Industry moguls and experts shared valuable information that my team was able to apply to our task and successfully win the project.
What sets me apart from others is my mindset and ambition. One of my favorite creatives Travis Payne says “No is the beginning of negation” I never settled for no, even if that means creating my own pathway and jobs.
What are your plans for the future?
My future plans are to continue growing my brand and find ways to give back to my community and other low targeted areas. I enjoy giving back and helping individuals bridge the gap of entrepreneurship and marketing.
I look forward to releasing my next book “Sadly Mistaken” that will be out this fall 2024. I hope readers are encouraged and motivated to keep going no matter what obstacle they may face. Through the transparency some will see that they are not alone and just because you fall down doesn’t mean you can’t get back up and win again.
