Today we’d like to introduce you to Char Mcallister
Hi CHAR, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Indigenous to the exotic island of Jamaica WI and migrated to America when I was 10 years old. While living in my homeland I have fond memories with the man I knew to be my father and my great grandmother. They nurtured significant parts of me that carries me through difficult times. Though they were not in my life very long they left a lasting impact.
Music & Arts has always been my passion since a child as early as 5 years old when I sang my 1st solo in church. Teachers saw my abilities and encouraged me in the areas of singing, writing, dancing and acting. Coming to America did not interrupt my desire to pursue the arts as a career. Because I lived in an environment which stifled my creativity and voice when I went to school everyday I felt like I had to start all over again to believe in myself. There were numerous teachers who saw my abilities and would not allow me to withdraw from my greatness. They pulled and pushed me forward.
In high school my English teacher encouraged me to enter a national poetry contest and I said no because I did not feel I was good enough. She did not take no for an answer but instead escorted me to the room where all the contestants would meet. And wouldn’t you know it, I WON! Which boosted my confidence and I then discovered my songwriting ability at 16 years old when I wrote my first song..
Music & Arts are not just my passion, they are my medicine and a balm for the internal aches.in my soul.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road at all. Many times it seems like I have to work ten-times harder than others. I often check in to assess if its my fear of failure or a fear of being great. I have overcomed many obstacles to achieve my dreams. CHAR Dreams Music/Productions/Publishing says it all. Everything falls under these umbrellas. I set goals to accomplish my dreams and actively pursue to make them a reality.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
CHAR McAllister LLC provides original music performed in studio and live concerts. A collaboration with professional musicians, singers, dancers, and numerous independent contractors to produce entertainment worldwide. I am in the process of producing a concert that will launch next year.
During the pandemic I started a podcast that is more like a talk show called “Adult Conversations with CHAR” where we discuss real life experiences that is relatable to many. Episodes can be seen on the CHAR Dreams YouTube channel or on the BeSpire TV streaming network.
The podcast was inspired by my single “Closure.”
As a creative, new ideas are developing by my surroundings and experiences. So let’s see what’s next!
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is that I continue to live my best life with purpose leaving an inheritance for my children and generations to come. My very essence will be a lasting impact on the world. A legacy that will never be forgotten. She pursued and lived her dreams against all odds.
