Doing things differently often leads to outsized results and so we connected with some of the most inspiring leaders and trailblazers we know and asked them to go into detail about what they do differently relative to others in their industry.

Innovation. Yes please. Information. Of course, and to state the obvious, make it current and applicable. Involvement and interaction. These words are of utmost importance when asking for an audience’s attention for 3 minutes or 3 hours! Infinitely IN – the power of being IN – whether a person aspires to be intelligent, insightful, interconnected, or to be known as a person of integrity, all of these principles can be shown through mastermind principles of “show & tell”. Just like most of us learned in grade school. Many corporate meetings come across canned and static with motivational speakers conveying content that is predictably packaged with a poem and few prose from others. Read more>>

I started to get curious about the engineering of a piano, and I recall discussing the topic in my senior year in college as an exit paper I wrote. After school, I started to dive into the workings of the instrument, tuning temperaments, why things don’t always work correctly. I recalled taking woodwind repair classes as a requirement with the band program I was with, but I soon realized that the piano was an instrument that most pianists hadn’t been educated on how to fix common issues. I soon after decided to start DFW Piano Tuning with the mission being to provide concert hall quality tunings at affordable prices. Read more>>

I have travelled my whole life growing up with my family and with my husband. We have travelled the world. I became a luxury travel agent as all my friends and family wanted to do the same trips as I have been on. My clients reach out to me to plan their travels as I have been to the destinations they want to travel to. This makes me unique and different than other travel agents who have not travelled to unique places to make the trips extra special and high end. Read more>>

When it comes to managing money for clients, most advisors look for a client’s risk tolerance to determine an asset allocation model for their portfolio. At our firm our money is managed right alongside our client’s money and we implement a value approach utilizing fundamental analysis to build portfolios. Rather than simply placing client’s money into bonds because they have a low risk tolerance, we say we would rather invest our clients money into a sound investment and educate them about that investment. Although my industry is within the broad spectrum of “health”, I believe I have an edge in how I teach others, my approach to beginning and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and my attitude on how to get there. Being healthy has nothing to do with prescription drugs or buying expensive products like powders, pills, or packaged foods. I have been preaching this for 7+ years. Our health begins in our kitchen. The starting point of our health is in our daily food habits. You will never hear me or my business promoting a fad diet. Read more>>

Dog training is an unregulated industry that really pushes results over animal welfare. I have devoted my career to making sure that dog guardians understand their dogs for who they are as sentient beings and approach training from a compassionate and kind mindset. Our dogs deserve to learn without pain and to be understood and acknowledged for how they are feeling. It’s been a joy to show my clients how to truly connect and understand their dogs and train them in a modern way that doesn’t involve outdated and harmful power structures. Read more>>

Yes, we have many different touchpoint and the type of trauma and healing work we do is different than any I have seen. We work a process that grows the emotional intelligence of an individual at a rapid level. We do intensives here on property, housing our guests in a VIP suite and we coach them with both husband and wife being represented in both of us coaching together as a couple. We also have created “love nudges” which are texts 2-3 times a week to keep couples present to each other and on each other’s radars. We are always asking ourselves “What makes us stand out in our industry that no one else is doing?” In our intensives we are 100 percent focused on the couple and their own issues. Read more>>

The bulk of the financial advice given by financial advisors in the United States today is focused on trying to make sure people don’t go broke, when it should be focused on teaching people how they can become truly wealthy. If you follow a conventional financial plan, you can expect a conventional life: working till normal retirement age and then scaling back lifestyle in retirement years. I believe in living an unconventional life: our clients want reliable income streams to support their lifestyle so that if they choose to continue working, each year of income adds to a passive income stream – which means they can possibly retire substantially earlier or with more income. Yes! For many of the business owners who come to me as prospective clients, they are super frustrated with their former bookkeepers, coaches and/or payroll services. They don’t know what they’re paying for and they struggle to get their former providers to even answer an email or phone call. And often times, those who are well-versed in math and ‘the numbers’ don’t communicate well or want a lot of interaction with clients. I’m different because I understand the math and work with numbers constantly, AND I start by building a solid relationship with my clients. I want to know them. Read more>>

I’m not sure how different this is from the industry standard, but I like my clients to have a lot of input in their videos. For clients creating personal videos, the final product has to be one they’ll want to share with friends and family, and watch time and time again. Business clients needs are a little different, but they still need to have a product that reflects them, their company, or their industry. The only way I can do that is if I listen to their input. I listen to what the client wants, and what their goal is for the final product, and ask questions. I’ll ask what their favorite colors are, if they want a theme throughout the video, or if there’s anything that would help me understand their goal. Read more>>

I wanted to do things differently and shake up the industry from the beginning of my business. For too long, Psychics, Spirit Mediums, and Spiritual Teachers have been perceived and treated as a joke or less than reputable business. There is a lot of noise out there, and it’s hard for people to have a genuine experience with a real intuitive practitioner when you have so many lousy options and scammers flooding the industry. I took my background as a Starbucks Store Manager for many years and applied useful business models and policy structures to my practice. Read more>>

Many years ago a friend told me, if you want to sell a hat, you have to wear a hat. I immediately got and paid for my own burial plan, then my husband did his plan, then our parents made their plans. Working with my family, I could easily question the choices being made by the people I know so well. I didn’t worry that they would use someone else, which allowed me to be authentic in my approach. I learned to make sure my clients know what their choices mean, to ask questions that help them articulate what values they are really trying to meet, and to help them give their families the gift of a healthy and healing bereavement. I learned not to be an order taker, but an educator. Read more>>

In my 5+ years in the creative industry, I’ve become a bit of a chameleon when it comes to my visual craft. Adaptable to my ever-changing environment, while equally bringing bold creativity into my visual expressions. See, the thing is, it’s been my experience that the more skills I hold in my arsenal, the harder it becomes for the industry to know which aisle to place me in. You might get hired as a designer but can’t touch the photography department, you are a photographer but forget about your curiosity for motion design… The structure of the industry can be stifling in the development of an artist’s fluid curiosity for other artistic crafts. I believe that to maintain focus and live a fulfilled life, a person should focus on five key areas. I have coined this “The 5 F’s.” Faith. Family. Friends. Fitness. Finance. These are the motivators that drive me to constantly pursue excellence and continue progress to be a better husband, father, friend, and mentor every day. I wake every day and ask God to make me the man He created me to be. I have been an advisor to many, helping to shape their thinking and reframe the “why” of what they do. Read more>>
