Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Nery.
Hi Stephanie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Stephanie, a passionate and dedicated local Las Vegas makeup artist with over 12 years of experience. I was born in the USA, but my multicultural background and time spent in England, New Zealand, and Brazil have really influenced my approach to makeup. I’m fluent in English and Portuguese, and I also speak some Spanish, which helps me connect with clients from all over the world.
I got into makeup artistry because it’s something that fascinated me, the artistry and possibilities and what started as a personal passion turned into a full-time career, even though at the time it wasn’t something a lot of people took seriously. There were plenty of doubters, but I stuck with it and now I’m lucky enough to work with all kinds of clients, from brides to celebrities, corporate events, and everything in between. I’ve done everything from TV and film projects to music festivals, bodybuilding competitions, boudoir shoots, and even teaching classes at large gaming & cosplay events.
What sets me apart is that I’m versatile and passionate about what I do, I can create any look and I always do it with enthusiasm and love. I’ve worked on projects of all sizes, I’m all about making my clients feel confident and beautiful, and I pride myself on being approachable and professional.
What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come in my career, and the reputation I’ve built as someone who’s reliable and truly cares about getting the best results for every client. I want people to know that whether it’s a small event or a huge production, I’ll always give my all.
I am a Mobile makeup artist, my innovative setup can cater to any event, all sizes.
Corporate, Festivals, weddings, Parties, Photoshoots, video shoots, Live events, Tv & Film…You name it!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting out was definitely not a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges I faced was financial. At the time, I was living in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and the makeup industry there was very different from what we are used to here in the USA. Brands that are affordable and easily accessible here in the U.S. were very expensive in Brazil, which made it difficult to build my kit and invest in the tools I needed to get started. That was a huge struggle, especially since makeup artistry wasn’t as widely respected or seen as a viable career at the time.
But despite these obstacles, I stayed focused on my passion and kept pushing forward. I made the most of what I had, often getting creative with alternatives and working within a tight budget. Over time, as my skills grew and I gained more confidence in my work, the opportunities started to come, and things began to shift. I’m grateful for the challenges I faced, as they taught me resilience, resourcefulness, and the importance of perseverance in pursuing something you truly love.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
After years of building a loyal client base and earning their trust, I started noticing my clients were asking for more makeup artists for larger events, or for recommendations when they needed additional talent. It became clear that there was a growing demand for quality artistry, and they trusted me to provide it. That’s when the idea of creating *HMUA Agency* was born.
I had spent so many years honing my craft and building relationships with my clients, and I wanted to create a platform where I could extend that same level of trust and quality to larger-scale events. The thought of being able to offer a full team of artists, all with the same passion, dedication, and skill that I bring to every job, felt like the natural next step.
But I didn’t want to just expand for the sake of growth. I wanted to ensure that every artist I brought into the agency shared the same level of professionalism and love for the craft. I handpicked a team of talented artists who I know and trust, people who are just as committed to the artistry and client experience as I am. Creating HMUA Agency wasn’t just about scaling up my business, it was about preserving the integrity of what I’ve worked so hard to build. With a team I believe in, we can continue delivering the same high-quality, personalized service my clients have come to expect, on any size project.
It was important to me that even as I grew the business, I never lost sight of what made me fall in love with makeup artistry in the first place! the ability to make people feel confident, Loved, beautiful, and empowered. The agency is an extension of that passion, and every artist I work with shares that same love for the craft and commitment to delivering exceptional results.
