The number one thing we hear from entrepreneurs and artists and creatives when we ask them about their education is about how irrelevant it was to their story. Sure, some folks had wonderful educational experiences, but for many their experiences left them feeling ill prepared for life and their careers. So, we wanted to create a space for folks to share their experiences and ideas for how we can improve our educational system.

The educational system can be a wonderful stepping stone, but I wish that they taught more about how your education and career goals need to align with your vision of life over decades. I can see how this might stray from simple post-graduate education, but counseling services to young adults that show them more options beyond the typical ‘office job’ would be a wonderful way to spur creativity and encourage young adults to shape their lives with their careers in a way that suits their vision of the future. Between technology and social media, children have an enormous amount of extraneous distractions taking up valuable mental space to engage with learning. It’s not that “kids don’t want to learn these days” – it’s that kids need help managing their cognitive loads in order to learn. The “kids don’t want to learn these days” mindset is super damaging and perpetuates the problem instead of trying to find solutions.
