Today we’d like to introduce you to Adanna Asson
Hi Adanna, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The brief version is that as a child, I loved reading, writing and speaking, and I was the chatterbug of the family. As I entered my teenage years and began looking at career choices, I sincerely had no idea who I wanted to be. The years progressed, and my love for music and interest in the stories behind the songs I enjoyed and those performing them grew. In my early 20s, I started an entertainment website that focused on sharing the stories of Caribbean creatives in the entertainment industry, which did really well. A short time before the creation of that platform, I found myself interested in Public Relations. While running an entertainment website, I became even more curious.
At that time, my friend Natasha Andrews became my mentor and allowed me to service her clients at her production company, Ma$tamind Productions. The opportunity she provided me with allowed me to hone my skills and be seen by the industry and prospective clients in my home country Trinidad and Tobago, throughout the Caribbean and internationally.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not. It took a lot of doing to prove myself as someone who is knowledgable and valuable in my market. After some 15 years, I am still proving myself. Sometimes my profession can be seen as a popularity contest and it’s anything but that.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about CREATIVA MEDIA PR?
CMPR is a boutique Public Relations agency birthed and based in Trinidad and Tobago. My agency focuses on supporting the Orange Economy and has done so for over 12 years.
I cannot pinpoint one specific proud moment because I am proud of everything that I have achieved thus far. I still remember what it felt like to secure my first media placement. I still remember what it felt like to negotiate successfully on behalf of a client, and I am always appreciative of being engaged by new clients.
As a publicist, I focus on brand building and management. I pride myself on knowing how to assist my clients in reaching their overall goals through various strategies. These strategies have been tried and tested and have yielded positive results for my clients, past and present.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Because my industry appears “chill” and “fun” all the time sometimes people do not believe that I have an Associate Degree in Journalism and PR and Bachelors in Media and Communication along with countless certifications in studies surrounding my field. I actually love learning so I am always in a webinar or seminar or reading industry related insights.
