We asked entrepreneurs, artists, creatives and folks from every walk of life to share stories of kindness with us because we believe that hearing about kindness inspires more kindness. Our world needs more kindness.

II have to be truthful. I think I’ve been very fortunate to have met so many kind and generous people in my life. It’s difficult to narrow the gratitude, but I can tell you about my first memory of unconditional kindness. It happened when I was six years old–some time in the 80’s. As a kid, my parents loved to take me camping. Most summers we’d drive to California to see aunts, uncles, and cousins. My parents, having been teenagers when I was born, didn’t have a ton of money, but I sure didn’t realize that then. Read more>>

Since starting my business earlier this year, I have encountered so much generosity and kindness from fellow business owners, artists and friends. When you are first building a business, it can feel like all you do all day is ask people for favors, advice and time. I’ve sent so many emails and DM’s asking for coffee meetings or phone calls. And honestly, many go unanswered. But thankfully a few people say yes too. Read more>>

When I was a little girl, I was very wild, loud, excited and super energetic. I often had more energy than my parents knew what to do with. Seeing as I was so small, and not sure what to do with all this energy, I would often feel frustrated and angry when I was feeling ignored or told to “settle down.” Needless to say, there were several instances where the only thing i knew how to do was scream to be heard and to, frankly, let out all of my anger and pent-up frustrations. The kindest thing anyone has and can do for me is to provide a judgment-free environment. I developed anxiety as an adult, as well as a pattern of overthinking everything. Words are very powerful and our brains cannot distinguish between positive or negative. Years of self-judgment snowballed into overthinking my every action and decision. I gradually began believing the things I was saying to myself, then doubting and not trusting myself. Read more>>

Reginald Bean VP of Marketing for Coca Cola Southeast Region. At the time, I think it was 2014, After years of trying I was able to get a meeting with him to discuss a project I was working on. This was going to be a big deal to have such a big company to provide sponsorship. He invited me to lunch and as we chatted, he asked me two simple questions that changed ny whole perspective above what I thought about business. The kindest thing anyone has ever done for me or the one that stood out the most, was when I was in middle school. I received a shoe box fill with many goodies, I felt appreciated and very excited. It mattered to me so much then and now I want to give a child the same feeling hence the reason behind me doing my own charity. Read more>>

I’ve shared this story quite often in my career, because without it I certainly wouldn’t be where I am today. The kindest thing ever done for me was when my 12th grade high school economics teacher, Patricia Roberts from Columbia High School in Decatur, Georgia blessed me by investing in me to start my own business in photography.
