We’ve been blown away by the examples of generosity and kindness that are at the heart of so many brands in the community. We asked some of the most giving entrepreneurs and leaders we know to tell us about how they think about the practice of donating a percentage of sales.

Giving back to Mother Earth is one of our brand’s core values. We donate a percentage of sales and sponsor our mineral sunscreen to local and global non-profits who are ocean advocates and creating positive motions in the community. These are the organization we love to support; Surfing Moms aims to help improve maternal mental, physical, and spiritual health by helping moms, and other caregivers, get back in the water after having children. @joinsurfingmoms Read more>>

Below is a blurb about our philanthropy… Twine & Twig incorporates philanthropy into the core values & culture of our brand! Because of the way that Twine & Twig originated, with my daughter’s illness, (you’ll read about on next question) naturally our first charitable act was to Make-A-Wish. As mothers it is important that we instill in our children, through example, that you must give back to the people and places in your community. Then we discovered something invaluable…that our customers wanted to be a part of our philanthropic journey. Read more>>

Every now and then, I handpick a nonprofit cause and dedicate 100% of the profits from sales on that specific day to support it. Some of the nonprofits MOCO Fragrances has proudly supported include The Trevor Project, the ACLU, The Native American Rights Fund, The Last Prisoner Project, and Exodus Refugee. Read more>>

Yes I do! 10% of my sales is donated to a program called “Manna Market”. This program is actually a part of my church in Tallahassee called Divine Glory Ministries, Inc. and they help those in need. Some of the ways they do this is by providing food and clothing for those experiencing homelessness, volunteering at shelters, and recently they are in the process of sending clothes and school supplies to a community Jamaica. I have donated hundreds of journals to the women’s shelters in my community. Watered Flowers represents women who have faced extreme obstacles and our journals gives them the tools, resources and encouragement to overcome any and everything they’ve gone through. I chose to donate some of our journals because I want every women to have the answer to her plight. I want them to know they are not stuck where they are, but that they can still grow, still pursue their dreams in spite of what they have and could be facing. Read more>>

Yes we have made it our mission to donate a portion of our sales to help Veterans fighting homelessness and PTSD. In 2012, after many failed attempts to settle into civilian life we found ourselves homeless with no idea how to remedy our situation. Fortunately, we were able to get ourselves to where we needed to be and find the help we needed, but it was at that point that we realized that we needed to do something for other Veterans dealing with the same situation. A portion of your purchases will help to fund Hawaiʻi Alliance for Progressive Action (HAPA). HAPA fights to change the political system so that it responds to the needs of the people and the planet. HAPA advocates for sustainable food sources, community-based resources and equitable housing. Housing is the most critical issue in Hawaiʻi right now. The housing crisis disproportionately affects people of color, especially kanaka (Native Hawaiians) who are being forced out of their communities. Read more>>
