Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexey Nekich.
Hi Lexey, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was gifted my camera in 2020 by my husband and initially used it just for fun. That same month, I started taking photos of people as a hobby not ever thinking or even wanting it to be a job. However, after a few months, people began telling me I had a gift and a unique vibe compared to what they had seen before. That feedback led me to start creative directing, styling, and taking on a few photoshoots each month.
Fast forward to 2022: I was working at an orthodontic office, decided to get pregnant, had my baby girl in May, then after having my her, I decided to go full-time with my photography business. I realized that while I was working there, I couldn’t reach my full potential or give my business the attention it deserved.
Now, three years later, I’m busier than ever and thriving!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I truly feel so blessed by God, as everything has gone very smoothly so far. Of course, there are slower months that make you worry, and there are times when you compare yourself to others and their success, feeling tempted to give up. But thankfully, I have an amazing support system that helps me push through those moments and keep going!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a photographer who specializes in capturing couples, creative portraits, and branding for businesses. Honestly, I’m not sure what others think of me or how they’d describe what I’m known for, but I’d say that being a moody, film-inspired photographer who works a lot is what they might say haha ! I also pride myself on being really personable both in my stories and with my clients. I love building strong relationships with the people I work with.
What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come in such a short time, especially while balancing being a mom and a wife. It’s definitely a challenge, but I’m constantly working on finding that balance. I think what sets me apart is how much of my personality I bring into my work. I often base my shoots on music and emotions, creating a vibe that feels authentic and personal.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Oh gosh haha im a pretty open book so thats hard, but maybe that on the side when I’m not taking photos, I am learning how to DJ.
