Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelee Love
Hi Kelee, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was invited to contribute to the “Inspiring Stories” section of this publication, I felt a pang of inadequacy. Even though I’ve shared my resilience before, life has a way of forcing us to confront our deepest truths. Am I truly inspiring? Perhaps those I’ve worked with over the past decade might see it differently.
Inspiration, like beauty, is subjective. The beauty of the journey emerges from embracing our fragmented parts and making peace with our stories. My journey began at rock bottom after a devastating divorce in 2011. Struggling with addiction and near homelessness, I took my first step toward recovery: humility and asking for help. Amidst the darkness, a persistent inner voice urged me to face my pain rather than numb it. Small, consistent actions—like making my bed and writing gratitude lists—became the foundation for rebuilding my life. Gradually, I incorporated self-love practices such as therapy, nutritious meals, and creative expression, which nurtured my confidence and guided me to help others.
Several years later, I began sharing my healing experience on social media, and shortly thereafter, I was presented with opportunities to teach workshops and provide personal coaching on the methods of healing I found useful in my own journey. Today, I am dedicated to empowering women through my programs, helping them embrace self-love, set healthy boundaries, and build fulfilling lives. My experiences—overcoming addiction, healing from trauma, and confronting deep-seated pain—drive my passion for supporting others in finding the strength to rebuild their lives in a purposeful way.
In 2022, I took the leap to move my life to the beautiful beaches of Costa Rica, where I’ve been called to serve by hosting private healing retreats focused on self-worth and reclaiming that inner resilient spirit. This task has required me to become a different version of myself, stepping more into my authenticity than ever before.
Even after nearly twelve years on this healing journey, I continue to uncover limiting beliefs and self-defeating patterns. I’ve learned to be more self-compassionate and gentle with myself through this ongoing process. Sharing my story and the tools that helped me rebuild my life reaffirms my mission and highlights the profound impact of healing on both personal and communal levels.
So the question remains… am I truly “inspiring”? I believe those of us who are willing to face our fears and integrate our fragmented selves can be a beacon of hope to those still in their own darkness. I hope that those I encounter can feel uplifted and encouraged, and give themselves permission to be the creators of their own lives.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
If you want to grow, the road will never be smooth. I liken it to climbing a mountain, only to discover an even bigger one waiting once you reach the summit. My desire to serve others has anchored me, providing the compass needed to follow my heart.
Over the years, I’ve embraced countless opportunities to stretch myself, tapping into that inner resource that reassures me of my worth and the value of my contributions. Every time I speak about my work and help others, I still feel a flicker of doubt. Yet, I’ve learned that saying yes to these opportunities and stepping out of my comfort zone is where the magic happens.
A few years ago, while on my journey of healing and spreading the message of self-love, I found myself in a psychologically, emotionally, and financially abusive relationship. Just after the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions were lifted, I gathered the inner courage and strength to finally leave that toxic situation. I felt like a fraud in my community, having been an advocate for self-love while failing to practice what I preached for nearly two years. However, by facing that demon and being honest with myself and my community, I was met with open arms and love. This experience taught me that facing my biggest fear and being transparent about it gave me more strength and made my path to success more fulfilling than I could have imagined.
Another major struggle was my decision in early 2022 to uproot my life and move to Costa Rica. Letting go of physical belongings and allowing my relationships to evolve was challenging. Some relationships grew stronger, while others faded away. Integrating into a very different culture than the American lifestyle of convenience and urgency forced me to slow down and re-prioritize my health, mind, body, and soul. Embracing a more community-focused mindset has helped me become even more of my authentic self.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m passionate about empowering women to break free from people-pleasing behaviors, set healthy boundaries, and build their self-esteem and confidence. As a Life Coach, I specialize in helping women who have experienced trauma, including abuse and addiction, to heal and rediscover their self-worth. My work is centered around guiding women on a journey of self-love, so they can create fulfilling lives, achieve their big goals, and cultivate healthy relationships. I offer a range of programs, from self-study courses to one-on-one coaching, tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual. Additionally, I bring women to Costa Rica for magical healing retreats, where the natural beauty and tranquil environment provide the perfect setting for deep, transformative work.
What I’m most proud of is witnessing the profound transformations in the women I coach. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see them reclaim their power, set and achieve their goals, and build healthier, happier lives. One of my proudest moments was helping a client who had struggled with low self-esteem and toxic relationships to find her voice, set firm boundaries, and pursue her dream career. The joy and confidence she gained were truly inspiring and reminded me why I do this work. The retreats in Costa Rica have been particularly impactful, offering women a chance to disconnect from their everyday stress and immerse themselves in a nurturing, supportive environment.
What sets me apart from others is my genuine dedication to my clients’ well-being and my ability to inspire and motivate them to embrace their true selves. Having navigated my own journey of healing and self-discovery, I bring authenticity and empathy to my coaching practice. My personal experiences resonate with my clients, who feel understood and supported as they embark on their own paths to self-love and empowerment. This authenticity, combined with my warm and empathetic approach, creates a safe space for growth and transformation, making my coaching uniquely impactful. The Costa Rica retreats further enhance this experience, offering a unique blend of adventure, relaxation, and profound personal growth.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
One of my favorite books is “Rising Strong” by Brené Brown. Her insights on resilience and the process of rising after a fall have been incredibly powerful in my own healing journey and in my work with clients. Another go-to book is “You Are a Badass” by Jen Sincero, which is a great reminder of our potential and the importance of self-belief. Gabby Bernstein’s “The Universe Has Your Back” has also been transformative, offering a beautiful perspective on trusting the journey and manifesting positive outcomes. For those healing from trauma, “The Body Keeps the Score” by Bessel van der Kolk and “You Can Heal Your Life” by Louise Hay are invaluable resources that provide deep insights and practical tools.
YouTube videos from Matt Kahn have been a significant source of inspiration and guidance. His teachings on self-love, compassion, and spiritual awakening have deeply resonated with me and provided valuable insights that I often share with my clients. His videos are a great resource for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of themselves and their spiritual journey.
