Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Kendrick.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my entrepreneurial mindset as a young girl; watching my mom work two jobs and my dad work endless hours. They always told me to follow my dreams and to do something that made me of value. From sewing and selling crafts as a young girl to growing up and having dreams of a small business. Those are the things that’s.I always focused on while in the process of making my dream come true. I sold things at swap meats and at garage sales and to friends and family. Then when I graduated college; I started finding away to connect with people that I didn’t live close to and started on online platform. Being consistent in my online presence is what has grown me into what I have today.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think the road is ever smooth when it comes to starting and running a business or any endeavor. I think that things can be a lot smoother depending on your mindset and looking at everything as a learning opportunity. There will be setbacks or roadblocks , but how to use those individual challenges to make you stronger as a business owner is really that way I’ve approached things. From finding the right partnerships or material sources to use; whenever you are connecting outside of yourself it is so important for me to always stay genuine and authentic to myself.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My business centers around an active lifestyle and producing products that aid people in that active lifestyle. From disc golf to hiking to pickleball; I have something for you. I have my own line of disc golf discs and my own customer socks as well as accessories. I make handmade canvas bags in the shapes of fruit that keep your hands dry during hot or wet weather. My brand KK APPROVED is all about finding the best products in the world and sharing them with my community! Everything I do is made by me, in my apartment in California. I don’t do any outside contracting and am proud I do everything with my hands.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice is always been to be true to yourself. I think if you’re starting a business to make money solely then I might not be the right person but if you want to keep your integrity and do something you love; then I’m your girl. A small business will only be successful if you truly love. What you do and are passionate about the products you’re sharing with the world. It may take long or be smaller but for me doing things with integrity and from my heart are what matters most.
