Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Marie.
Hi Angel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My creative journey began in 2003 when I was a third grader at William M. Meredith Elementary School, a performing arts school that sparked my love for theater and dance. I continued to explore theater and dance at the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) and later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Media Studies & Production from Temple University.
In my senior year at Temple, I found my true calling. I participated in a study-away program in Los Angeles and gained valuable experience working with entertainment giants like the Kardashian and Jenner families, AwesomenessTV and Entertainment Scoop as a celebrity red carpet reporter. After graduating, I joined NBC Sports one year later in Stamford, CT, as a Digital Streaming Coordinator for the 2016 Rio Olympics. This role was so rewarding and led to me earning an Emmy Award-winning project as an Associate Producer.
When my temporary position at NBC Sports ended, I returned to Philly and felt uncertain about my career path. Determined to forge my destiny, I launched my podcast, ‘All of the Above,’ in February 2017, with the help of my Executive Producer/brother-in-law, Kevin Strickland. The podcast provides a platform for local creatives, including independent music artists, authors, entrepreneurs and designers, to share their stories and connect with a supportive community.
Since starting ‘All of the Above,’ I have produced over 300 episodes, traveled to Los Angeles, Atlanta and New York for celebrity interviews and red-carpet events, and coordinated many virtual celebrity interviews. I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had and proud of what I have accomplished on my own.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There’s definitely been a few struggles along the way but it unleashed the hunger and determination in me to work harder. One of the struggles I faced was earning the support of the Philly community. Philly is a tough crowd and you have to work twice as hard to receive support from your peers. Throughout this journey as an entrepreneur and creative, I’ve learned to target the broader public, connect with my audience and not lean on the support of my friends and family to reach my goals.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
‘All of the Above’ is a Philadelphia-based podcast dedicated to promoting and highlighting local creatives, independent music artists, visual artists, entrepreneurs, authors and Black-owned businesses in Philadelphia and the neighboring regions of New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Virginia. The show serves as a hub where individuals can share their stories with a broad audience, championing a supportive community for emerging talent.
What sets ‘All of the Above’ apart from others is that we began in February 2017 before podcasting became as popular as it is today and we’re still going strong, releasing one new episode every Wednesday. There’s many platforms that launched around the same time we did and are no longer active. ‘All of the Above’ brings me joy and I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I believe my relatable personality and my responsiveness are most important to my success. People connect with you more when you humanize yourself and make yourself accessible.
