Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Angela Adams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Angela, appreciate you joining us today. What’s the best or worst investment you’ve made?
The best investment that I have made as a business owner was investing the start up fees to begin my own travel agency, Boujee Tours. I started making candles during the pandemic when I was teaching from home and had a lot of extra time. The candle business still does well. I sell scented homemade soy-based candles, Bossy & Boujee Glamtique. I have always wanted to travel yet have an extreme fear of heights. My Goddaughter, Kendra Childs, suggested that my daughter, Teriana Ward & I look into selling travel. She connected me with a friend of hers who helped to get me set up. I made a Facebook group and invited my closests friends to join. I began to advertise different vacation packages with pictures to grab the viewer’s attention. My page grew to over 1K members within the first two months. So far, I have sold multiple packages to Las Vegas, Puerto Rico, Colorado, & Miami. I continue to train and learn the different vendors that supply travel packages. This is the most fun that I have had working in a while! I plan to continue to educate myself in travel and see the world as I learn! The travel discounts and knowledge allow me to also help my family and friends explore areas they otherwise may not get a chance to see.
Angela, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Angela Adams. I am a public-school teacher rated exemplary by the state of Texas. I love to learn and educate others. This is my twenty-fourth year in education, and I still love touching the future. Boujee Tours is thriving because I have a strong support system from West Dallas, the community I grew up in and relationships that have built through teaching. I feel my clients trust me because many of them are former students or parents of students that know that I excel in all my endeavors. Therefore, my small business is growing so rapidly. I also take out time to research, share photos, and videos of properties to my perspective clients. I make recommendations based on data shared from other’s experiences and my personal travel experiences. I feel my personal approach to selling travel sets me apart from others. I am currently learning more about the different cruise lines and find it very exciting. Travel is an excellent field for anyone who loves knowledge because there is so much to learn.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my audience initially through my friends on social media. I sent friend requests to all those who I felt would support me. I created catchy phrases and used beautiful pictures that captured the interest of my audience. I also use personal experiences and pictures to broadcast my personal travel. My audience is growing because of customer referrals. I try to post at least three promotions or more weekly.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My positive image with the public helped build my reputation in the market. I continue to strive to provide excellent customer service to each person I encounter.
