Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jeff Hibbard. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jeff, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you wish you had started sooner?
I don’t think there is a perfect answer for this or a way to predict how we get into a certain career that is compromised of completely different elements opposed to a traditional 9-5. You have to simply be passionate and obsessed about whichever field or area you are interested in. But ultimately, yes I did wish I start in my 20s opposed to my 30s

Jeff, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
So my journey is very unique. I went to the gym in my teens and early 20s but, nothing serious and I didn’t know what I was doing
It was when I kept getting in trouble due to my addiction to heroin from the years of 2012-2016 when I went to prison in NYS for 3½ years. It was there I started taking my fitness seriously at 26/27 years old and realized I could make this a career because I knew I was a good looking guy already
What sets me apart from others is that I’ve simply been through a series of experiences most people don’t ever go through. I had to fail MISERABLY at life before I saw any type of success. I take a lot of my personal time and energy helping other athletes with social media and advice pertaining to the industry. I don’t always put myself before others because I know that helping others is the reason I am where I stand today

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As of the last 6 months, I have gone on 4 roadtrips, caught the flu as I was moving from Florida to Texas back in January. Since that time, I’ve had a series of attacks on me from people of the past or people who simply don’t want to see me succeed. And as of really recent, I got injured from a lumbar disc / sciatic nerve issue which is preventing me from doing simple day to day tasks. I refuse to accept failure and will continue to keep making epic moves despite my downfalls

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The biggest lesson I had to unlearn was life itself. I basically said I’m going to wipe my mental slate clean of everything that I once knew. Forget any advice or concepts of the past and the forging of your own unique grit and mentally to be one tough SOB to have the drive and discipline to be better than the rest. And that maybe school and always hanging around friends every weekend was going to be the thing that actually held me back
