We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Fatha Lee a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Fatha , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Taking risk for me is a way of life! One example is me quitting my job in 2019 to pursue my music full time. I was working for FedEx as an Operations Coordinator and doing music on the side. At one point I felt that I was more focused on my 9-5 job than my true passion which is music. So I decided to quit and take a leap of faith. I’ve been going strong ever since. Things aren’t always easy but I definitely am grateful for the choice I made and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Well I go by Fatha Lee. I run an entertainment business called “A Thousand Sounds Records”. I record/produce music as well as sell merchandise for people across the world. I’m currently a professional basketball player as well for the new team “Savannah Hurricanes” my main focus is to bring the best product to the masses for not only their entertainment but also as an inspiration that you can do anything you set your mind to.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Yes! The book “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” has impacted me to look at the importance of financial literacy! This is something that I wasn’t taught at a young age and it would’ve helped me tremendously if I got my hands on it earlier
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect to me is the feeling of new ideas that actually sticks! I love to create new things and this is where most of my excitement come from.
