We were lucky to catch up with Jennifer P. Jackson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jennifer P., thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
Media has always been a part of my life. I was already into Music Production when I was in my teens. I got my first exposure to Video Production in high school back in the 90s. I took a Video Productions/TV Broadcasting class as part of the Theater Arts curriculum. After high school, over the next few years, I focused mostly on Music Production and Music Videos. I have also had the opportunity to work on internal corporate media projects.
I didn’t get into a film until 2020, right before Covid, I decided to invest in some high-end film equipment. There was a massive learning curve, but I did all the research I could to learn what goes into making a quality film. I found that 3 of the most important elements are lighting, sound and color-grading. Lots of tutorials, and some trial and error.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
In 2020, the same year I invested in film equipment, I Wrote and Directed my first Comedy – Side Piece Agency. I also began production on the pilot episode of a Horror/Suspense series called Nightmares Written by C.J. Cassidy.
In 2021, I Wrote and Directed A Sci-Fi/Horror short film called Jacked. Jacked was released on the same day I launched my new Roku channel called Punch. Punch is a free Video on Demand channel for streaming short films of all genres.
Since then, both Jacked and Side Piece Agency have been added to IMDb. Those are the first couple in the Jennifer P. Jackson IMDb catalog. Expect that list to continue to grow.
Jacked has recently been the official selection of several international film festivals, and has even been selected as a semi-finalist in the Los Angeles Cinematography Awards.
Currently, I’m working on a Psychological Thriller genre parody called Bat Sh!t Written by Lagecy Jones and starring both Tammy Sherell and Carrie McGee, Bat Sh!t is set to release this year – 2023.
After Bat Sh!t, the next film is set to be a feature-length Zombie Horror. As always, stay tuned.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When I moved to Atlanta in 2015, I slept in my car in downtown Atlanta for almost 3 months. During that time, I would visualize myself where I wanted to be. I knew there would be a time when I would look back on that and be grateful. I’m grateful now because I’ve accomplished so much over the years, and I’m still really just getting started. I have my media company – H2D Industries Entertainment, and under that, I own a Roku channel called Punch. I’m happy with the content that I’ve been releasing, and I’m excited about all the new projects that I have in the pipeline. It’s only up, but I’ll never forget was down was like.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of it all is when you have an audience that genuinely connects to your art – whatever it is that you create. Some people don’t understand how much of an Artist’s being goes into what they create. The art is an extension of the Artist. It’s one of the most beautiful relationships…
