We recently connected with BARBARITO CAPOTE and have shared our conversation below.
BARBARITO, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
Everything that I learned I learned from watching and being around people that were willing to help me. I took all the information that was taught to me brought it home of course invested money and time in it and eventually made it my own. You have to be willing to learn study and improve on your craft all the time. Obstacles that stood in the way really was myself meaning having the desire and the mental capability to just focus and having that ambition in wanting to succeed in addition to maintaining longevity because that’s important too.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve been in the music industry for about 35 years. A lot of blood, sweat and tears it takes a lot of time and discipline doing this if you want to strive in this industry. But most of all patience is critical because you’re going to have your good moments as well as your bad moments and learning from all those moments is how you grow as an artist. I also have my own business which is my record label called Grind City Recordings which is basically another outlet and not only promoting myself but helping promote other artists by releasing their music. I’m most proud about this because I never thought in a million years that I would own my own business because I was so afraid to do it. I was simply afraid because I thought I was going to fail but I had to be in a better more positive mind frame just embracing the moments and just saying to myself well what if I succeed? From there my fears were gone.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is the mere fact that whatever you create is yours and showing your art to the whole world that truly appreciates the kind of creativity that you do. When you go into a recording studio create and you have finished products you wonder are people going to like it? When they do that is the greatest gratification a person can ever have.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I had to become more open-minded to the social media game being that I’m from an older generation I had to adapt and keep active on the new era that we live in. Being on social media is another 9:00 to 5:00 job which content and creativity is how you get your audience to gravitate to you. That’s why it’s very important remaining consistent and bringing aspects to what your promoting to the table that captures the visual culture that are interested in what you do.
