We were lucky to catch up with Anthony White recently and have shared our conversation below.
Anthonygo, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What was one of the most important lessons you learned in school? Why did that lesson stick with you?
I was in high school and it was toward the end of my junior year. I went to North Andover High School in Massachusetts. One day my guidance councilor asked me a very simple question I couldn’t even answer myself. She asked me “What are you good at? What are your talents?” Now I wasn’t a straight A student student in high school I actually had a problem skipping class. I was on a IEP in school so please don’t think I was one of the best when I came to school. You know when you think of school you have to be good at the basic classes to figure out a college root or to even know if your going to be good at your major. I didn’t have an answer honestly. I answered that question by myself at the age of 20 in Boston. I just got done being homeless outside and my sister let me stay with her for some time in Cleveland. I had to self evaluate myself and figure out what was the whole entire purpose of moving to Boston if I wasn’t going to stay that same person mentally. Just because I moved back home to the hood doesn’t mean I have to go back to the terrible person I was before. My guidance councilor popped back up in my head. Now the main question that changed my entire life was “what was I good at?” I love helping people teaching them knew knowledge to help them out in life. I knew I was born to change lives after Finally answering her question. I couldn’t be more grateful for Megan Pinksten because little did I know it brought my dreams to reality more than I ever thought it could. I speak world wide now.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
The people who may not know me my name is Anthony White Motivational Speaker, also the Author or the book “ 1 Second 7 Days”. I’m from Cleveland Ohio. I’m the youngest of my mothers 9 kids. My mother didn’t make an attempt raise none of us. I was born as a premature crack baby and got adopted at 7 days old. I grew up seeing people get killed, people burning cars, fighting everywhere etc. A Hostile environment. Growing up I was angry child also resorted to violence no matter the emotional feeling I was having. I had a huge smile on my face so I knew i had some type of good in me just because everyone liked my smile. It felt like it was always an amazing person awaiting to break out of its chains in me. I got that opportunity when I moved to Boston Massachusetts. It felt like a whole new world over there like everyone was so nice. Everyone wanted to help you. It was safe. It was just something I never thought was possible. I thought places like that was only on tv. I thought I’d live on the same block my entire life like everyone else where I’m from. Later on in life after high school I ended up being homeless for 2-3 years and I wrote and published the book “ “1 Second 7 Days”. The book is about my life. I got a call on the phone by a lady named Georgette Thomas. She said I just had to be on Gene Davis Podcast show “ Rising Stars Podcast”. So I went on the show it was my first live recording ever it was all she wrote from there. Now I speak about mental health, past trauma and how to attack your dreams step by step with telling my life story. I’m most proud of my clients for believing in themselves knowing everything you want takes time just keep trying everyday because they know as long as their trying there not giving up. They are now building there own superhero’s within themselves. This was a everyday process of trying my hardest on my craft not getting any sleep. Not eating, not allowing myself to slack. I remembered how to keep my hunger of keeping my dream alive everyday and night. I memorized every timezone so I can work while others were sleeping. Now I’m being invited to speakers awards, in magazines modeling. Speaking on tv in front of country’s. Being friends with people I seen on tv growing up. Im proud of my work ethic and consistence to make all of this happen. Im here to let everyone know that it doesn’t matter what age you are you can make your dream happen. Just ask yourself how bad do you want it?

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn distractions. I was putting to much time in places, people that was never meant to be for me. I had to learn that it’s a difference between time and attention. Where I was putting my time was into everything that I knew I had no business being. My attention was who I was attending to and being around. Once I figured out the two there was no going back and it was only doing right for me. I was always partying after high school getting drunk, smoking, but I always told myself this is not what I want to be doing like I wanna do something more. Don’t be scared to get uncomfortable, it’s the only way your going to get comfortable.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Be an outgoing person in real life and social media. Create genuine connections with people not just to brag you know them or to get a foot in the door but because you genuinely like who they are as a person and what they stand for. Sign up for networking apps there free! You can talk to people worldwide and gain fans but also friendships. It’s all about connections. You don’t go want a sandwich but expect someone to bring it to you. You go out there and make it or go buy it. Go get what you truly want it’s that simple. Your going to hear no a lot, or you may not get a text or dm back. Just don’t stop trying to reach out. Be a pest because if someone was constantly knocking at your front door soon enough your going ti answer. It just depends how hard you knocking.
