Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Valoramous. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Valoramous, appreciate you joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
To learn the craft as a record producer and DJ, I expended thousands of hours in practice, reflection, self-study, and education, as well as a considerable sum of money in hardware and software.
Undoubtedly, if I could go back in time, I would have started earlier. Thus, I would encourage anyone considering a career as a creative to simply start. Instead of endlessly planning and waiting for the opportune moment, understand that the perfect moment will never arrive. The best time to start was yesterday; the second best time to start is today.
Perseverance and discipline embody the top skills or character traits to learn as a record producer and DJ. Artists will endure countless rejections, moments of frustration and stress, etc. in the pursuit of excellence as a creative. Perseverance and discipline should be your watch words as you endure through trials and tribulations, and solve issues related to learning specific features of software, training your ears as a musician, familiarizing yourself with buttons on hardware or strings on your instrument, etc.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I developed a strong interest for Electronic Dance Music (EDM) while living abroad and traveling across more than 65 countries on the continents of Europe and Asia between 2008 and 2016.
While I originally possessed the idea to become a DJ and Producer in 2015, I hesitated to start DJing and producing music until 2017 when I moved to New York City (NYC). While living in Manhattan, I met a resident club DJ/Producer, and he showed me everything he knew about the industry.
From here, I took personal responsibility, invested in my education, and the rest is history as they say.
As a record producer, I take great pride in composing creative productions, solving mixing/audio engineer problems, mastering tracks to their full potential, collaborating with other artists, and serving as a project manager for complex releases.
Specifically, I am most proud of my “Amnesia (Remixes EP)” because I served as the project manager for this seven-track Extended Play (EP) album, which PurZynth Rekords supported and released through their record label.
My Valoramous artist project desires to provide energetic euphoric and/or nostalgic moments via the following themes: partying, letting loose, blowing off steam, memories, throwback, friendship, reunions, rendezvous, etc.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Undoubtedly, the most rewarding aspect as a producer is creating something to share with the world. I think that most artists will possess a sense of pride by accomplishing a finished work of art, which will also include the unseen story of enduring trials and tribulations and unexpected interruptions to complete the final product.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
My #1 recommended book for aspiring artists is “How to Make It in the New Music Business: Practical Tips on Building a Loyal Following and Making a Living As a Musician” by Ari Herstand.
This book proved to me that finding a career as a musican/artist is possible no matter your background, age, prior skills, knowledge of music theory and equipment, etc.
It also helps that the book provides practical and actionable advice related to the management and entrepreneurial mindsets. I still refer to the book when I experience a specific issue or need to learn more information about a certain question or topic.
