Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bria Knight. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Bria , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Four years ago, I made a pivotal decision to expand my entrepreneurial journey beyond my initial success with III. VI. Artistry. Since launching in 2018, my business has been a labor of love—providing tools and experiences that empower consumers to indulge in beauty and gain a deeper understanding of their own preferences. Offering makeup appointments for over ten years and skincare services for more than four, I’ve seen firsthand how confidence and self-awareness can transform lives.
However, I always felt there was more to explore in the realm of beauty. The risk I took was deciding to venture into the world of haircare—an area I was passionate about and knew could complement the services I already offered. It was a bold move, stepping into a new industry with its own set of challenges, but my vision was clear: to create a comprehensive line of haircare products and services that cater to all beauty needs.
This expansion was not just about adding products; it was about embracing a holistic approach to beauty—one that celebrates individuality and self-expression. I am dedicated to making this dream a reality, continuously working to develop innovative solutions that empower my clients to look and feel their best from head to toe. Taking this risk has been a testament to my commitment to growth, creativity, and serving my community in new and impactful ways.

Bria , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was inspired early on by the elders in my family to become an intelligent and sophisticated individual who appreciates enterprise, politics, and religion. Watching both of my grandfathers run their own businesses instilled in me a deep respect for entrepreneurship, while my grandmother’s dedication to self-care and empowerment motivated me to pursue a path that honors her legacy.
When my grandmother passed, I felt a calling to create a business that would pay tribute to her influence and the lessons I learned from my family. My business is centered around self-care and empowerment because these are the values she instilled in me. The lessons from my grandfathers and other elders—such as a firm handshake, maintaining eye contact, punctuality, and delivering impeccable customer service—continue to guide my approach to business today.
At III. VI. Artistry, we believe that beauty is an art form and a means to empower. We offer a wide range of services including makeup applications, eyelash extensions, skincare, hair care, and beauty tools and utensils. Our goal is to provide solutions that address our clients’ pain points, helping them look and feel their best. Our clients’ trust and feedback have been instrumental in helping us scale and improve, and I am especially proud of how far this business has helped me grow in character and professionalism.
What sets us apart is our commitment to luxury experiences and personalized service, rooted in the knowledge gained through genuine interactions and continuous learning. I want potential clients to know that III. VI. Artistry is more than just a beauty service—it’s a journey of self-empowerment, professionalism, and timeless elegance. Our mission is to help you celebrate your unique beauty with confidence and grace, honoring the legacy of strength and sophistication that inspired us from the very beginning.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was that following trends would sometimes make me lose what makes me unique. The backstory is that I used to subscribe to popular trends without really considering whether they aligned with my personal style or artistry. I was worried that if I didn’t follow what’s trending, I might fall behind or seem less relevant. But I realized that in the world of artistry, the real question is what sets you apart from the next artist. For me, that realization came when I understood that my strength lies in my special focus: soft glam. I provide elevated applications that enhance beauty without masking the individual’s unique features. Staying true to my signature style allows me to stand out and offer something authentic to my clients.

Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
Initially, my primary source of income was from providing makeup appointments, which allowed me to build a solid client base and establish my reputation as a makeup artist. As I received payment for these services, I consciously reinvested a portion of that income into my business to fuel growth and diversification.
Rather than solely relying on makeup applications, I recognized an opportunity to address my clients’ broader beauty and skincare needs. To do this, I used the funds I had accumulated to develop a line of beauty tools and skincare products. This move was strategic—by creating products that complemented my makeup services, I could offer a more comprehensive solution to my clients.
This approach not only enhanced my service offerings but also generated additional revenue. It was a prime example of identifying a problem—many clients lacked the knowledge or resources to maintain their beauty routines—and finding a solution through product development. Clients often need guidance on skincare and proper maintenance to achieve lasting results, and by providing these products, I became a one-stop shop for their beauty needs.
The process of fundraising through my initial services created a cycle of growth: income from appointments funded product development, which in turn attracted more clients seeking holistic beauty solutions. This strategy increased my earning potential and helped establish my brand as a trusted provider of both services and quality beauty products.
In summary, by reinvesting income from my artistry work into product creation, I was able to expand my business, address unmet client needs, and generate more revenue—fueling a sustainable and scalable business model grounded in problem-solving and client satisfaction.
