We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ty Wright a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ty, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
The biggest risk I’ve taken was stepping out and not being afraid to fail. When doing what I do, a lot of negativity will be presented both internally and externally. It’s my job to block it all out, to help me to take that risk. In reality everything you want in life is on the other side of your comfort zone. So taking the risk of being ridiculed, lied upon, externally attacked, etc. just because I’m striving to do what I do.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got into my craft as an artist from years of not taking it seriously. Eventually, I realized that the only reason I wasn’t, was because I didn’t know how I would be perceived, usually how that goes for rap artist ironically. A lot of people want to make music, so what makes me proud is being able to make clear distinctions. I actually study Hip-Hop/Rap, all while either living or being directly exposed to the lifestyle portrayed in rap music. That’s what makes me, me…. Everything is authentic, and there are receipts to show for. IAMTYWRIGHT is subtle, kind,and genrerous; yet so dangerous.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Being authentic as possible, and never forgetting where I come from and where I was raised.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Always understand “if it is easy,
It’s not really worth having it”
