We recently connected with Kenedi Hindmarsh and have shared our conversation below.
Kenedi , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I grew up absolutely surrounded by creativity, my mom modeled, and my grandma was the epitome of beauty and poise. My dad is a photographer, so I have always loved being in front of the camera. As a kid, I even walked in several Macy’s fashion shows showcasing the latest kids fashion, and grew up watching Americas Next top model! After having my son and going through a divorce I decided to pursue modeling a little more seriously. Since then I’ve been featured in magazines, worked with the most incredibly talented models and found my voice as a tattooed model with the help of Sarah and Mike from Vanderrose models, even becoming one of their first Ambassadors! Alongside modeling, I express myself artistically by painting tattoo inspired designs on denim through my brand, Wildflowr Denim. Something deeply inspired by my boyfriend Zane Watrous, who is a traditional tattoo artist and one of my biggest supporters. I was so proud to share one of my designs at a recent modeling competition in the talent portion that I ended up being the overall crowned winner for! And one of my proudest moments was having my son in the crowd cheering me on and see what his momma can do, he’s always reminding me to chase my dreams and I definitely have been through my creative career! :)

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
What sets me apart and what I hope people take away from my story is that there is room in the modeling industry for authenticity. As a tattooed model, a mom, a small business owner, and someone who has experienced divorce and having to rebuild, I don’t fit into just one category and I think that’s definitely my greatest strength.
For a long time I felt like I had to choose between different parts of myself. Was I a mom? A model? An artist? An entrepreneur? Over a few years, I’ve learned that I didn’t need to choose and I can just be all of those things and that has just made me more confident in who I am!
Working with Vanderrose Studios has definitely played a huge role in who I am as a model, and creative and finding my confidence. They helped me to see that being a tattooed model was possible and I didn’t need to hide that and I could still pursue my dreams. Through their mentorship and support, I found my voice and started to embrace my individuality both in front of the camera and in my everyday life.
I also want people to know that success doesn’t always happen in a straight line. Some of my biggest growth came after some of my hardest seasons. Divorce was messy and I had to rediscover myself, who does Kenedi want to be? So I started to build a life that felt true to me. Today I’m fortunate enough to be in a healthy, supportive relationship that encourages my dreams and inspires much of my creativity.
Whether I’m modeling, creating art or simply sharing pieces of my life online, my goal is to encourage others to embrace who they are unapologetically. I want woman, especially mothers, to know that their dreams don’t have to end when life changes. Sometimes those changes become the very thing that leads you to where you’re meant to be.
And above all, I’m proud to show my son that it’s never too late to chase your dreams, take chances, and create a life that you’re proud of!

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My creative journey is driven by the desire to live authentically and to give myself permission to take up space exactlly as I am. Becoming a mother, navigating divorce, rebuilding my life, and finding my confidence as a tattooed model taught me that growth often comes from the most unexpected places.
Today, my mission is to create, model, and share my story in a way that reminds people that their circumstances don’t define them. We are allowed to start over, evolve, and pursue the things that light us up. If I can leave my son with one lesson, it’s that dreams are always worth chasing, no matter what season of life you are in.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
One resource that has continued to stay with me throughout my life is the book “Oh the places you’ll go! By Dr. Suess.”
When my siblings and I each graduated high school, my mom gave us a copy, and I’ve kept that in mind ever since. While it’s often thought of as a children’s book, its message has been surprisingly meaningful throughout my adult life. It reminds me that life is full of unexpected twists, challenges, opportunities, and adventures, and that we have the power to keep moving forward even when the path isn’t quite clear.
As an entrepreneur, artist, and model I’ve found myself returning to that message often. Whether it was navigating my divorce, building my confidence as a tattooed model, launching Wildflowr Denim, or pursuing opportunities that felt intimidating, I’ve learned that growth usually begins just outside of your comfort zone. The idea that “If you can dream it, you can do it” has become a guiding principle in both my creative and personal life.
Beyond books I’m inspired by the people around me. Watching other creatives, small business owners, artists, and mothers pursue their passions while staying true to themselves has taught me a great deal about resilience and authenticity. My philosophy isn’t necessarily rooted in one business strategy, but in the belief that success comes from showing up consistently, embracing what makes you unique and. Being willing to take chances on yourself.
There is never a perfect time to start, my most meaningful opportunities came after difficult seasons and before I ever felt fully ready. If there’s a philosophy that guides me today, it’s that life rewards courage, curiosity, and the willingness to keep going, even when you don’t know exactly where the road will lead. <3
