We were lucky to catch up with Sherelyn Duhart.Monts recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sherelyn, appreciate you joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The idea of becoming an author or writer just popped in my head as I walked up the stairs in the condo. I said to myself I think I should write a skit. I believe I said a play. I wrote my first skit about the three kings bringing gifts to the Saviour. I also must say I know that the play idea was a God given idea.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started out as an author initially wanting to put my short plays in a book and also wanted to be on television or have them on TV. While on this journey I discovered television. I became a producer of a TV show You’re on My Heart. I produced the show for fifteen years in the metro Atlanta area. It was a talk show. We talked about every topic you could think of. I produced the show from 1995 to 2008. The show stop being in production.
I never let the idea of becoming an author never left. I published my first book in 2008. It was birthed from women who had low self esteem. I was amazed at how many did not know God made them beautiful. I decided to make it a children’s book so individuals can know they are beautiful and something special at an early age.
Another inspiration came that created my second book, entitled “Billy don’t be a Bully.” The idea came to me as a result of a coworker was being bullied. Unfortunately bullying still exist. The children need to know bullying is wrong and needs to be acknowledged. I can go on and on with the rest of my books. I have published several devotionals, a teenage prayer journal, and one for adults. My portfolio includes a black history book and a novel discussing all the issues women deal with. I will be writing until the day I die.
Something happened in 2020, You’re on My Heart was rebirthed as a podcast. It airs every quarter and we have had all several experts on the show.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I met business partner elementary school. We were friends. He was also my 8th grade prom date. We played in the band together. We played the bass clarinet. We kept in touch, our birthdays are one day apart.
One day we got married.
He is the marketing guy and trriat for our publishing company Duhart Press LLC

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My first book I hired 2 illustrators. One could not finish. The other one we could not agree on a price. I ended up using stock images.
