We recently connected with Russell Forsyth and have shared our conversation below.

Russell, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there an experience or lesson you learned at a previous job that’s benefited your career afterwards?

In early 2006, I was at the peak of a personal transformation that had begun with the new millennium. The transition away from a 33-year career as a Historic Restoration Contractor had been more seamless than anyone could imagine. I was leaving a lucrative, male-dominated sector of business crossing a bridge to a new career as an intuitive reader, life coach, inventor and operator of a Crystal Light Table, and developer of an online training program. I quickly found demand for my intuitive readings and energy-related services.

Answering an invitation to speak at a large spiritual gathering in Fort Worth, I had a realization around my past career.. Someone in the crowd asked: “When did you know you had a gift? Where you a young child having unusual experiences?” I didn’t have an immediate answer, which led to an uncomfortable pause to ponder the question I had never personally asked of myself.

The answer came but wasn’t that sexy. Sure, I was a sensitive child with vivid dreams and fancy notions. But the truth was that all those years in construction provided a forum for me to hone my intuitive and business skills. I was forced to read people carefully and accurately. Self-employment does not allow for many mistakes, especially for a man with responsibilities to his family. In construction, I created a unique business model designed to ensure my longevity in a tough competitive field.

It was essential for me to get a regular paycheck. So If any part of me felt distrust for a potential client, I would turn down the work. I once rejected an offer to lead a two-million dollar restoration project on a personal residence. The owner messaged saying he had to pick himself up off the floor in order to reply. Later, I heard stories of subcontractors not getting paid and litigation nightmares for some on what seemed like a dream project.

The restoration and construction business requires a high level of organization, determination, patience, and a ton of creativity. Not only did I constantly use my intuition, but I learned to trust that skill to ensure success. I was in daily training in the use of my second sense without really knowing that as part of my reality. Many people I work with want to leave their corporate job. Others feel their work has no purpose. What I learned was that no matter what we are doing, we are constantly growing and learning. The only thing that separates us from knowing this fundamental truth, is the self-awareness that is often missing from the less-than-exciting experiences.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

After reading an account of my gifted spiritual teacher having an experience on a crystal bed, I became fascinated with the idea. To my utter shock and dismay, my $8,000 offer to purchase a crystal bed was rejected. There was no explanation given, other than someone telling me “I will not build you a table”. The seed was planted in that moment of failure, and I began to explore and nurture my newfound obsession.

As a former builder with a visionary side, I began to see blueprints in my Mind’s Eye. This led to spending several months in the basement of a historic house in central Austin. In a ghostly environment with a widespread reputation for being haunted, I eventually designed and built the first incarnation of the Forsyth Crystal Light Table. In early 2007, I began testing the device on volunteers with great results. My newly constructed human energy tool involved the use of multiple elements. The combination of ancient and modern methods created a unique experience with effective results.

Overcoming the harmful effects of trauma and disharmony can be daunting. I am a facilitator that helps those who are willing to face their past with the goal of healing. Emotions from an event can become lodged in the system. Trauma bonds can keep an individual in a closed loop of the mind, body, and spirit. In my format, my client is the healer and I’m the facilitator. I feel that everyone has the natural ability to heal. My job is to empower people in a way that brings them into their most natural state. Restoring energetic balance brings a grounded perspective to the story of their lives. All my services begin with 40 point energy assessment and every point has a thousand threads. My work is a lot like being a detective trying to uncover the root cause of a disharmony. Without the assessment, it is almost impossible to target and successfully balance the energy. Developing the energy assessment, building the light tables, and teaching others is an accomplishment which I am most proud.

Since those early days, I have enjoyed building Custom Crystal Beds for people all over the world. It didn’t feel right to send out a tool without instructions, so I developed an online training platform to serve that purpose. In 2012, the IEL Institute for the Spiritual Arts was born. Since the inception, the platform has grown to a membership site offering over 22 detailed modules exploring all things metaphysical. I am adding new modules on a regular basis too.

The IEL (Intuit the Energy of Love) Institute offers classes with optional certification. I wanted to create a great user experience, so we assembled a library of content delivered through articles, videos, channeled messages, a forum, practitioner’s, meditations, teachers, mentors and an amazing store built for the members. Crystal Light and Sound sells Vogel-Cut crystal wands, pendants, singing bowls, and amazing crystal sculptures by world-class artisans. My wife Beckie operates the store and I run the membership site.

Since 2007, I have worked consistently with an average of 700 clients a year. I have also sent out a channeled message (I call Angel Whispers) every Sunday morning for the past 15 years. Providing my services, creating the weekly message, and using the Forsyth Crystal Light Table with thousands of clients, became part of an overall practice to develop and master my craft. Over the years my work has evolved. What started out as a practice offering mostly intuitive readings, turned into pursuing the advanced arts. I found myself providing services in the exciting field as a medical intuitive with a focus on energy assessments. Helping people in such a way is extremely rewarding.

Today, I provide energy assessments and remote energy balancing to clients around the world. It’s not unusual for this type of service to be provided without even speaking directly with the client. The Pandemic offered an opportunity to learn greater uses of the Forsyth Crystal Light Table due to a surging demand for remote energy balancing services. Remote energy can travel through the ether to arrive any where in the world. This is one great benefit that appeared due to Covid-19.

The other current area of focus for my services is in the area of intuitive business coaching. Conscious corporations are soliciting the services of physic and intuitive coaches to help with their mission. Many business leaders with new start-ups are seeing the benefit of working in the mystery to develop their model for success. Adding a spiritual component to business, adds integrity through insightful decision-making that leads to greater alignment with their core vision for our planet. Some would be surprised to find the new-thought leaders of these amazing global initiatives seeking such counsel. It brings some hope for our world at a time when many are feeling discouraged.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

In the year 2000, I discovered the existence of my brother, given up for adoption at birth by my parents. This was the unveiling of a 53-year-old family secret. I felt my entire life had been built on a lie, which propelled me to seek some greater truth to the meaning of my life. Our family searched for years to locate my brother without success. As I opened my heart to explore a world that cannot be seen, I started having unusual experiences. A well-respected world-class psychic told me my brother was deceased. Another intuitive person approached me at a speaking engagement. She told me my brother died in Vietnam, but he had a family that needed me. She encouraged me to keep looking.

The life I had known prior to the year 2,000 soon became a distant memory of someone I barely recognized in the mirror. I made the full transition in 2006 from Award-Winning Historic Restoration Contractor to Angel Therapist giving Oracle Card and Angel readings. Talk about a 180 degree! Most of the people around me expressed utter disbelief in my profound change and career shift. It seemed at the time my established persona as a contractor would follow me the rest of my life. Many advisors, close friends, and family members told me I would surely fail They pleaded with me not to leave the career I spent 33 years of my life building. But my path was destined in ways that others could not easily understand. It wasn’t something I had the words to explain at the time. I made the transition with the determination of the Blues Brothers. I was on a ‘mission from God’!

I became a medium, then turned my focus toward energy healing. My thirst to learn this strange new craft was never satisfied. My practice was constantly evolving in an attempt to improve my intuitive skills and master the understanding of human energy systems. As a skeptic I demanded evidence from every experience, so I could trust and believe in the non-physical dimensions, my spiritual connection, and the whispers from my own heart.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

Over the years I had heard whispers that my brother’s name was John. I asked for the last name but kept getting the ‘ohn’ sound. Every path that might lead us to him was a dead end. There was nowhere left to search. By 2008, we had all but given up hope of finding our lost brother.

In 2011, we were anticipating the birth of a new grandchild. The predicted born date was July 21st. As we prepared for the arrival of the new family member, Brandon came early on July 2nd and surprised us all that Independence Day weekend.

On July 19th, I gave a reading to a young woman who was obviously VERY intuitive. At the end, she held her purse and hung her head. After a few minutes of an awkward silence, I asked what was wrong. She told me she was feeling shame. “What you gave me was priceless and I don’t have much money to give,” she expressed.

Something happened in that moment. I had never done anything like it before and have never repeated since. I asked her if she would consider exchanging for her session with me in another way. A bit taken back, she asked what I meant. “Tell me anything you can about my brother.” I asked. Her eyes immediately rolled back in her head and she went into a full-body trance. She spoke clearly and without hesitation. Within a minute of her giving information in a stream of consciousness, I knew she was channeling my father. Big Russ had died in 2009.

When I told her that she was speaking with my father, she expressed HE was a STUBBORN man. I just smiled and said, “Yes, that is definitely my father!” There was a lot of information given that day from an unsuspecting client. I contacted my sister after the invigorating session, and told her I was back in the fight to find our brother. There was no way to know what we could do that was different than prior efforts. But I wanted her to know I was determined to get back in the game once again.

Two days later she was searching the same old information we all had used a thousand times before. This time, there was an immediate hit. She called me to say she had found him and he was very much alive! Within a few minutes of receiving that call from my sister, my brother John called me! It was July 21st, 2011, and as predicted, we would add a family member on that day. As a matter of fact, we added several family members. His name is John Hahn and I was so close to getting that name from the whispers of spirit! He also had a large family. In one day I connected with my only brother and became an uncle and great uncle to many.

Everything began to make sense in a way that defied logic and reason. Without a doubt, my transition into the spiritual arts led me to finding my brother. I don’t believe Russell the contractor would have produced the same results. Being compelled to ask a client to give ME information was nothing short of a ‘God thing’. My devotion to making such a radical life change combined with my resilience to create one of the most amazing stories of my life. Such an effort had paid off in a way that was unimaginable. My new direction in life and transition over several years, suddenly made sense.
