We recently connected with DK Diggz and have shared our conversation below.
Hi DK , thanks for joining us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
I definitely wish I would have started my creative career sooner. I’ve always had a connection to music. I’ve been dabbling in it since I was a kid but back then I was more reserved. I was focused on making sure I really had bars before I stepped out and took myself seriously as an artist.
Life wise, I was also balancing being a stay at home mom, so my focus was split between my family and figuring out how to pursue music in a real way. It wasn’t until 2021, on my birthday, that I finally took that leap and released my first record. That moment was a turning point for me.
By 2023, I pushed myself even further. I did my first show and dropped my second single, “Big Ol Booty.” The response was crazy, and that’s when everything really started to click. From there, I just kept building momentum and taking my career more seriously.
Looking back, if I had started sooner, I think I would have developed my confidence earlier and gained more experience faster. At the same time, starting when I did gave me real life perspective, discipline, and something meaningful to talk about in my music. I don’t think I would have had the same level of authenticity without those experiences.
So while I do wish I had started sooner, I also appreciate the timing of my journey. It shaped me into the artist I am today, and it gave me a stronger foundation to build on.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m DK Diggz, a recording artist and entrepreneur focused on building a brand that stands for confidence, honesty, and real self expression. I got into music at a young age just playing around with friends, but over time I realized it was something deeper for me. I wasn’t interested in just making songs, I wanted to actually say something and make people feel it. Once I got serious about writing and recording, I knew this was something I wanted to pursue long term.
My journey into the industry wasn’t overnight. I took my time developing my sound, my delivery, and my confidence. I officially stepped into the game in 2021 when I released my first record, and from there I continued to grow by performing, dropping more music, and learning the business side of being an independent artist. That hands on experience really shaped how I move today.
As an artist, I create high energy music that people can turn up to, but at the same time my message is rooted in empowerment. I make music for women who want to feel confident, bold, and unapologetic about who they are. Whether it’s a club record or something more personal, I always want my audience to feel something real when they hear me. Beyond music, I’m also building brands and creating products that align with that same energy, so everything I do feels connected.
What sets me apart is my authenticity and my approach. I’m not trying to fit into what’s already out there. I take pride in actually having bars, being intentional with my growth, and staying connected to my audience. I also understand the importance of business, marketing, and branding, which allows me to move strategically instead of just creatively.
I’m most proud of the fact that I started from scratch and stayed consistent even when things weren’t easy. Balancing life, family, and building a career takes discipline, and I’ve proven to myself that I can keep going no matter what. Every release, every performance, every step forward is something I earned.
The main thing I want people to know about me is that I’m building something real and long lasting. I’m not here for a moment, I’m here to create impact. When you tap into my brand, you’re getting confidence, energy, and authenticity every time.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
In my view, one of the biggest things society can do to support artists and creatives is to start valuing the work for what it really is. A lot of people consume music, content, and creative work every day, but don’t always recognize the time, skill, and investment it takes to create it. Supporting artists goes beyond just liking a post. It means streaming the music, buying the products, showing up to events, and actually investing in the people you believe in.
Another important piece is education and access. Not everyone grows up knowing how the business side of creative industries works, and that knowledge gap can hold a lot of talented people back. Providing more resources, mentorship, and real opportunities for independent artists can make a huge difference in helping creatives build sustainable careers.
I also think society needs to normalize artists being business minded. Being creative and being strategic should go hand in hand. When artists understand ownership, branding, and multiple streams of income, it puts them in a stronger position long term.
Lastly, creating spaces where artists feel supported, respected, and free to be themselves is important. Creativity thrives in environments where people feel confident expressing their truth without being boxed in or overlooked.
At the end of the day, supporting a thriving creative ecosystem comes down to respect, access, and real support, not just attention.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist for me is the impact my work has on other people. Knowing that something I created can make someone feel more confident, more seen, or more understood is everything. It’s not just about putting music out, it’s about how that music connects and lives with people in their everyday lives.
I also find it rewarding to be able to express myself freely. I get to turn my thoughts, experiences, and emotions into something real that people can hear and relate to. That kind of creative freedom is powerful, especially when you come from a place where you had to build your confidence over time.
Another big part for me is growth. Every song, performance, & opportunity pushes me to become better, not only creatively but as a person and a businesswoman. Seeing my own evolution and knowing I’m building something from the ground up is a rewarding feeling that never really gets old.
